Rehak’s two goals lift Episcopal Academy to a victory

Maddie Rehak came through as usual to lead the Episcopal Academy field hockey team to a 2-1 InterAc League victory over Agnes Irwin in the annual EAAIS Day Friday.

Rehak scored twice as all the goals came in the second half. Rehak tallied the winner after the Owls tied it on a penalty stroke. Bridget Boyle did not have to make a save in the first half for the Churchwome­n. Caroline Kelly had one the second half.

Kevin Brown converted a pass from Steven Griffin 4:27 into overtime to lift Springfiel­d to a 4-3 Central victory over Strath Haven.

Brown found the back of the net three times to help the Cougars erase a 2-0, first-period deficit. He put the Panthers ahead with a second goal midway through the third period. Strath Haven pulled its goalie in the final minute and that brilliant coaching move paid off when Mike Irey scored his third goal of the game to tie it with 30 seconds remaining. PENNCREST 8, GARNET VALLEY 4 » Jack Fletcher set the tone early with a goal 53 seconds into the game. The Lions scored five times in the first period and never trailed. Ian McDougal led the attack with three goals. Fletcher, Dan Mundy and Declan Casey chipped in with one goal and one assist apiece.

In the PCL: FR. JUDGE 5, ARCH. CARROLL 1» Justin Mangan’s goal in the second period was all the offense the Patriots could muster.

In nonleague action: MARPLE NEWTOWN 9, OXFORD led GV 1 » Ian Malarick scored three goals, two in the first period. Max DiCola had a big game with two goals and two assists. Liam Rode (four assists), Garrett Dobbins (one goal, two assists) and Joe Carafa (one goal, one assist) also had multiple point games. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 7, RIDLEY 4 » A five-goal outburst in the second period doomed the Green Raiders. Michael Giampapa did most of the damage for Ridley with three goals and one assist. Brett Dunning added three assists.

Girls Hockey

Maeve Hiehle scored midway through the first period to give PenncrestH­aven an early lead, but Shanahan pitched a shutout the rest of the way for a 6-1 victory over the LionsPanth­ers.
