Shooting victim escapes death in fiery crash
CHESTER » A man who was apparently shot and then tried to drive himself to the hospital crashed his car, which then burst into flames, police said.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning just a few blocks from Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Officers responded to a report of a car that had flipped over at 21st and Upland streets. Further investigation revealed that the driver apparently had been shot near Fourth and Highland streets just after 2:30 a.m. The victim tried to drive himself to the hospital but instead lost control of the vehicle, which flipped over and burst into flames, according to authorities.
The man was able to escape the wreckage and was taken to CrozerChester Medical Center. His condition is not yet known.
The fire was extinguished by Upland and Brookhaven fire companies.
Police currently have in the shooting.
The incident remains no suspects under investigation.
