FOLCROFT » A 46-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision involving a Southeast Delco school bus early Tuesday, police said.

The motorcyclist was identified by police as Steven Matthew Klein, a former Delaware resident who recently moved to Eddystone, Police Sgt. Christopher Eiserman said. No charges have been filed in the case. The collision occurred at about 6:25 a.m. as the bus was exiting the school district depot in the 300 block of Chester Pike.

“The school bus travelled across four lanes of traffic … The driver has a pick up (of a student) on the other side of the street,” Eiserman said, noting the bus driver was reportedly halfway across the roadway when the collision occurred.

The motorcyclist, who was traveling east on Chester Pike, was taken to Mercy Fitzgerald Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

In addition to the bus driver, there was one student and an aide on the bus at the time of the accident. No one else was injured in the crash.

The investigation is continuing, but there are no charges pending at this time against the 66-year-old bus driver, Eiserman said late Tuesday afternoon.

“There was no indication of alcohol or drug use,” Eiserman said, referring to the bus driver. “He submitted to a blood test.”
