Wiley, Yonda lead Swarthmore to comeback victory

Swarthmore cracked the halfcentur­y mark in the second half as five players reached double figures in scoring to highlight a 9585 men’s basketball decision over Albertus Magnus.

The Garnet, who trailed by four points at halftime, outscored the visitors 51-37 in the final half. Cam Wiley scored a game-high 26 points and Zack Yonda checked in with 19. Zac O’Dell added 14, Robbie Walsh had 12 points and Nate Shafer tossed in 10 for the Garnet (2-0), who shot nearly 51 percent (31 of 61) from the field. Wiley and O’Dell each snared nine rebounds. DENISON 90, CABRINI 70 » Keith Blassingal­e scored a career high 25 points to lead three Cavaliers in double figures as Cabrini (11) lost at the Mary Washington Tipoff Tournament. Deryl Bagwell netted 17 points and Tyheim Monroe chipped in with 16 for the Cavs, who shot 22 of 64 (32.4) from the field. Samantha Wetzel recorded her second consecutiv­e doubledoub­le with 13 points and 12 rebounds as Haverford claimed a 59-52 victory over The Sage Colleges at the Gwynedd Mercy TipOff Classic.

Anna-Sophia Capizzi came off the bench to score 11 points for the Fords (2-0), who outscored the Gators, 15-7, in the fourth quarter. Megan Furch (eight points) hauled in a career-best 11 rebounds. NEUMANN 75, PSU-BRANDYWINE 56» The Knights pulled away with a 14-3 run to open the third quarter.

Nikki Velez poured in 25 points to lead the Nittany Lions. Brandi James (Interboro) added six points and six rebounds. Football

Justin Powell scored his sixth defensive touchdown of the season, but Widener’s season ended with a 21-7 setback to Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial-MAC Bowl Series contest Saturday.

Powell stripped the quarterbac­k on a sack, picked up the loose ball and raced to the end zone in the second quarter to tie the game. F&M regained the lead with less than a minute to go before halftime. Pat Downey had seven catches for 77 yards to pace the Widener (7-4) offense.
