No. 13 Florida State women cruise to easy win over Samford

TALLAHASSE­E, FLA. » Shakayla Thomas scored 29 points and No. 13 Florida State rolled to an 8762 victory over Samford Sunday.

Imani Wright and Nausia Woolfolk added 14 points apiece for the Seminoles (60), and Ama Degbeon had 11 points, 11 rebounds three blocks.

Kaila Charles added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Terrapins (5-2). Mykea Gray had 21 points for Miami (4-2). NO. 17 USF 68, ST. JOHN’S 59 » Maria Jespersen scored 25 points, and No. 17 South Florida held on to beat St. John’s in the third-place game at the Gulf Coast Showcase.

Kitija Laksa scored 18 for the Bulls (6-1). They shot 48 percent from 3-point range. Andrayah Adams had 15 points for St. John’s (3-2). NO. 19 TEXAS A&M 90, TEXAS TECH 56 » Chennedy Carter scored a Texas A&M freshman record 30 points, and Danni Williams added 14 points in her homecoming game.

Texas A&M (4-1) scored the opening 10 points, extended it to 26-3 and led by 29 points at the end of the first quarter with a program-record 34 points. Williams is from Clovis, New Mexico.

Brittany Brewer led Texas Tech (3-2) with 12 points. NO. 25 KENTUCKY 69, MARSHALL 39 » Alyssa Rice scored a career-high 19 points and had 10 rebounds for the senior’s first career double-double, and Kentucky used a 20-0 second-quarter run to rout Marshall.
