Hubert (Dutch) John Keller passed away peacefully at home on Thanksgivi­ng Day, November 23, 2017 at the age of 87 surrounded by his family.

He was the loving son and the third of four children of the late Francis and Dorothy Keller. Bert was born at home in Prospect Park on August 10, 1930.

Bert grew up in Prospect Park and attended Saint Gabriel’s Grade School and Saint James High School before enlisting in the Army in 1952. He served in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1954. Bert married Nan Mullen in 1955 and they lived in Prospect Park. In 1957 they had their only child, Hubert John. After the death of his wife, he married Mary Jean Burns in 1980.

He was employed at the Prospect Park Bakery and at Pathmark as a baker before retiring in 1993. He spent 25+ years in the Boy Scouts, much of that time as an Assistant Scout Leader of Troop 174 in Norwood Pa. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, carving wood, building black powder guns, hunting, camping and gardening. He was a history and war enthusiast, his grandkids often would come to him for history questions. He also enjoyed taking day trips Jean.

He was predecease­d by his brother Francis, sister Dorothy Reardon, first wife Nan, son Hubert John, second wife Mary Jean, stepson Michael and step grandson Steven.

He was the loving husband of the late Mary Jean for 37 years who passed away in July. He was a devoted father of the late Hubert John who passed away in 2013. He is survived by his sister Margaret (Joan) Brennan, his daughter in law Karen Keller, stepchildr­en Richard J Burns (Kathy), Mary Kay BurnsNicks, Lori Ann Bradley (Jim), Stephen Burns (Chris) and daughter in law Billie Burns. Hubert was blessed with 20 grandchild­ren and 17 great grandchild­ren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday morning from 9:15am - 10:45am at Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church 233 Mohawk Avenue, Norwood Pa. 19074, followed by his funeral mass at 11:00. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon Pa.
