- CURIOUS RESIDENT WAKE UP

MAIL CALL

I’m a resident of one of the small towns in Delaware County who now gets their mail delivered between 8-9 p.m. Is there some reason I don’t know about? I’m just curious if other towns like mine are saddled with this or what the problem is? One night I even called the police because I thought I was getting robbed. Does anybody else have this issue?

CONCERNED CITIZEN

SEEING RED

I would love to know who’s the person who decides where these “no turn on red” signs go up at. There are so many places where you can see a mile up the road and there’s nothing coming, and you still have to sit there like an idiot for the light changes. Sometimes it’s a quite a while.

THE RICH ARE DIFFERENT

Hey Paul, you people think giving the rich and corporations tax breaks works, why don’t you look at a local business that gave its former CEO $10 million to retire while it cut off employees’ pensions and froze them? So now people who struggled all their lives to put money away don’t even know if those pensions are going to exist when they go to use come. This is what your top 1 percent will do with the money that it’s given on a tax break.

WE WILL SURVIVE

I’m a Korean War veteran in my 80s and each morning I get together with a group of Korean veterans like myself for coffee and breakfast and we discuss the issues of the day. The other day, one of the men brought the fact that he thought that the American public and the country itself is losing his resiliency. I disagree wholeheartedly, and I’ll tell you why: If this country can survive eight years of Barack Obama and lying, divisiveness and incompetence, it is capable of surviving anything and everything.

GAME TIME

I watched the Grey Cup championship game of the Canadian Football League. It’s actually football, the way it should be played, except some of the rules are a little different. What I liked best was when the wide receivers went out for a pass and the defensive backs tried to cover them, they weren’t grabbing their shirt, holding them, tripping them, putting her hand up in their face mask. It was actually football. It was actually enjoyable to watch. Too bad that season’s over and they only showed that one game in the U.S. I’d rather watch that than this garbage we’re got on TV nowadays – I’m looking at you, NFL.

TAKE THAT

I got a laugh from “Local Or Bust” and they bring up a good point about all the “shop local” nonsense. If you’re “shopping local,” all that you’re doing locally is walking into a building in your neighbor. Everything in there came from trade with people and places that had the resources or skillset to make the retail products for sale and everything needed in there to run the business. If shopping local is so wonderful, then we should either return to a hunter-gather society, or the Soviet Union. Those are two good examples of shopping local.

GRATE IDEA

I’m a Chester resident. Now that we have to pay a Stormwater Authority, does that mean that they will clean the grates instead of me and my neighbor doing it?

MORE TRUMP NONSENSE

Donald Trump said Time magazine was going to make him “Person of the Year,” but they wanted him to do an interview with them in order to do this, so he declined. But Time magazine doesn’t even inform whoever gets “Person of the Year” that they were named. They find out when everybody else does. Once again, Donald Trump is lying – big surprise there.

DREAM ON

To “Missing Mince,” you can get a nice mincemeat pie from the Amish pastry stand out at Booths Corner Farmers Market. But on a serious note, the reason it’s so hard to get it now is because mince was put on the endangered species list by the Obama administration. Now government bureaucrats are using stifling regulations to deprive hardworking Americans of mincemeat pie.
