421 W. 24th St., Upland, provide safe and affordable housing for low-income elderly in the community. The residency invites area seniors to its Cafe at Park Row from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Job Corps: is a program free to income eligible young people ages 17-24 with career training and education programs, including Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Culinary Arts, Emergency Medical Technician, Facilities Maintenance, and Pharmacy Technician. The program gives participants the opportunity to finish their high school education, gain hands-on experience with trained instructors, and start a real career or go to community college. Joseph Dreams, Inc.: announces a series of free Diabetes Self Management Program workshops. DSMP is a workshop for people with or at risk for diabetes. It teaches the skills needed in the day-to-day management of Diabetes and to maintain and/or increase life’s activities. The program is designed to help people gain self-confidence with their ability to control their symptoms and learn how their health problems affect their lives. The Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP) is an evidence-based self-management workshop originally developed at Stanford University. The small group workshops are six weeks long, meeting once a week for twoand-a-half hours and are led by a pair of Trained Lay Leaders with Diabetes and/or diabetes knowledge. The meetings are highly interactive, focusing on building skills, sharing experiences and support. Participants learn how to make weekly action plans and help each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out the self-management program.
