Two are charged in Main Line knifepoint robberies
Two people are in police custody following three knifepoint robberies in Haverford and Lower Merion townships over the month.
The suspects have been identified as Jessica Ettore, 37, of the 700 block of Alexander Avenue in Upper Darby, and Matthew Jason Jimenez, 32, of the 100 block of Busti Avenue in Philadelphia.
Both have been charged with robbery, terroristic threats, simple assault recklessly endangering another person, theft, conspiracy and possession of instruments of crime.
The first robbery occurred Nov. 19 near North Eagle Road and Sunny Hill Lane in Havertown when a juvenile told police he was in the area about 8:30 p.m. when he was robbed of his cell phone. The victim told police he was approached by a man in a red hooded sweatshirt and a tan trench coat. The suspect had a knife with a red handle and grabbed the victim by the arm as he demanded his cell phone and money.
A few days later, on Nov. 22 at 7:40 p.m., a second victim reported being robbed along the 100 block of West Hillcrest Avenue. The victim screamed for help and a woman driving by yelled and the suspect fled from the scene.
The third robbery took place in the Ardmore section of Lower Merion Township near Marlboro and Wellington roads Nov. 26.
According to a press release from Haverford police, credit cards belonging to the victim in the Lower Merion robbery were used at a gas station in Philadelphia. Police got video footage of a woman, who was later identified as Ettore, using the cards. Lower Merion issued an arrest warrant on her and on Nov. 28 she was taken into custody by Lower Merion and Upper Darby police.
As police interviewed Ettore, the second suspect was identified as Jimenez. He was arrested by Upper Darby police Dec. 1.
