Handel wins 100, 200 free as EA rolls over Baldwin

Isabel Handel won the 100 and 200 freestyle as Episcopal Academy claimed a 106-59 Inter-Ac League win over Baldwin in the pool Wednesday.

The Churchwome­n claimed eight of nine individual events, aided by reigning Daily Times Female Swimmer of the Year Alex Sumner in the 200 individual medley. Chelsey Liu sprinted to the win in the 50 free, Madeleine Ott claimed the 100 butterfly and Lilly Haupt was quickest in the 500 free. Hadley DeBruyn capped the effort by winning the 100 breaststro­ke.

Baldwin’s Elizabeth Bunn won the 100 backstroke.

Boys Basketball

Christian Ray scored 20 points and Jameer Nelson Jr. chipped in 15, but Perkiomen School pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 78-66 nonleague win over Haverford School.

Gavin Burke drained three 3-pointers for 14 points, and Kharon Randolph added 12 for the Fords, who trailed by four going into the final stanza.

Wrestling

Friends Central won five of the 10 contested bouts, but Episcopal Academy’s superior depth guided it to a 52-24 nonleague win.

When they got to the mat, EA claimed four wins by fall, courtesy of Evan Zamolli at 195 pounds, Paul McLaughlin at 220, Braeden Dinger (in just 31 seconds) at 120 and Alex Sladek at 132. Kevin Li added a major decision at 145.
