John F. Hasson, Sr. (Corky), 72 of Folcroft passed away Monday December 4, 2017 at Mercy-Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby. He was born Oct 31, 1945 in Philadelphia to the late Joseph & Anna (Lennon) Hasson.

Along with Johns 35yrs as a Master Welder for General Electric and Sunoco Oil Refineries, He was also drafted to serve with the US Army in The Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. John was awarded The Army Commendation Medal for his valued services.

John (Corky) married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Costello Hasson, on April 29th 1967. The two lovebirds recently celebrated 50 beautiful years together.

In his younger years, John (Corky) coached many sports for the Folcroft Boys Club and was fanatical about the Phillies and the Eagles. And over the years, John dedicated his time to attending sports and events for his 9 grandchildren. With them he shared coin collections, puzzles, dog treats, books and old stories.

Survivors include: his loving wife Patricia (Costello) Hasson; his children, John, Jr. (Christine), Patricia Smith, Stephen (Denise), Colleen (James) Droxler. His siblings Kathleen (Dennis) Deitch; Mary Hasson; Joseph (Marie) Hasson; His grandchildren, Maddy, Brianna, Johnny, Jimmy, CJ, Jacki, Stephen, Sean and Makenzi. Also many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday Dec. 11th from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. Mass of Christian Burial will follow 11:00 AM from St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood. Burial will follow in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
