Chester police are probing 3 shooting incidents, 2 of them double-shootings

CHESTER » City police are investigat­ing three separate shooting incidents two of them involving double-shootings that left several people wounded.

None of the injuries is believed to be life-threatenin­g.

Police said they do not know if any of the shootings are related.

Two teens were wounded when they were fired on by another group in the area of Ninth and Tilghman streets; the second, also a double-shooting, occurred in the 1100 block of West Third Street; and the third took place in the 1100 block of Brown Street in the Sun Village section of the city.

Police offered the following accounts of the shootings:

The mayhem started just before 1 a.m. Saturday when officers from Chester Township Police Department were dispatched to West Nate Ellis Drive for the report of a double shooting. Upon their arrival and after gathering further informatio­n, it was discovered that the shooting incident actually occurred in the 1600 block of West 12th Street in the city of Chester.

City police officers responded to Crozer Chester Medical Center to investigat­e. On arrival they discovered two juveniles who had been transporte­d to the hospital by ambulance. The first victim, 16, had been shot numerous times, including in the back. A second victim, 15, was struck in the arm.

Police said the two teens were in the area of Ninth and& Tilghman streets when they heard a group of people start yelling at them. The victims then attempted to flee the area on foot, but reported that when they got to the 1600 block of West 12th Street, they were confronted by an unknown vehicle traveling toward them at a high rate of speed. The two teens then say they heard gunshots and realized that they were struck by the bullets. One of the teens is listed in serious condition, the second is listed in good condition.

The second double-shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m., when officers were dispatched to 1100 West Third Street for a report of a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers discovered two people had been shot. Police learned the two men were walking when they heard shots coming from a moving vehicle.

A 33-year-old male was struck several times in his lower body; a 31-year-old male was struck in his foot. Paramedics transporte­d both victims to CCMC for further treatment. They are listed in serious condition and good condition.

Finally, a third incident occurred a little more than an hour later, at 9:40 p.m. when officers were dispatched were dispatched to the 1100 block of Brown Street for a report of shots fired. A few minutes later, officers received informatio­n that there was a walkin gunshot victim that just arrived at Crozer Chester Medical Center. The victim informed hospital personnel that the incident occurred in the Sun Village section of Chester, consistent with the 1100 block of Brown Street. The victim, a 22-year-old female, was suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower back. Police said the victim was just arriving to the area of Brown Street, and as she was getting out of her vehicle, an unknown actor began firing a weapon in her direction, striking the victim in the back.

The victim is listed in good condition at this time.
