Gun Facebook post by new Radnor pol raises eyebrows

New Democratic commission­er has gun dealer license

RADNOR » Some Radnor residents were quick to criticize new Ward 7 Commission­er Sean Farhy for a 2013 public posting on Facebook.

Farhy, a Democrat, who runs a business where he buys and sells items from estates, posted a picture of a Beretta handgun and some bullets that he found when he bought the contents of a storage locker.

When his brother-in-law commented on the post with: “John needs a new drop piece,” Farhy joked, “Don’t we all?” According to the Urban Dictionary a “drop piece” is a gun without serial numbers that can be planted at a crime scene.

Since Farhy’s appointmen­t Monday night, the Facebook posting has been shared on Facebook and Twitter by various township residents.

Farhy explained that the “instrument” was not actually a drop piece and that he took it to the Bridgeport Police Department after finding it in the locker and the police verified by its serial number that it was not stolen so it was legal for Farhy to possess it. Farhy said that he is a registered fire arms dealer and has been vetted by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. Farhy said that he needed that license because he comes across firearms in the course of his business.
