Sonya Dervishian receives Women’s Club’s ‘Student of the Month’ award
NEWTOWN » Sonya Dervishian was honored as student of the month for November by the GFWC Woman’s Club of Newtown Square. She accepted the award at a special 7oth anniversary luncheon of the Woman;s Club, held recently at Overbrook Country Club. Sonya is the daughter of Christopher and Lilet of Media and was selected by the Marple Newtown High School
According to a press release from the GFWC Woman’s Club of Newtown Square, Sonya has a passion for learning. She is a avid reader and that has earned her the role of co-captain of the Reading Olympics this year. Sonya is a leader. She’s President of the debate team, president of the Spanish Club, vice English Department. president of the National Honor Society and vice president of the Chemistry Club.
Sonya is also involved in Interact, Renaissance, Spanish National Honor Society, Wide World Language Newspaper, Hi-Q team and Student Council.
In her studies, Sonya is always willing to do that little extra. This has translated into her being a phenomenal student with AP courses in Literature and Composition, Calculus AB, Biology, Physics, Macro Economics and Honors Spanish IV.
Sonya is very active in the Armenian Church; both within their social events and volunteer opportunities.
Sonya plans biomedial on studying engineering.
