VAUCLAIN DELIVERS

American Legion Post 777 would like to say thank you to Vauclain Fire Co. for transporting Santa through the community for our children’s Christmas party that turned out a total success. The children all received a toy and pictures with Santa. We would also like to thank our whole crew here for all the prep work it took to make this possible. THANKS FROM POST 777

PHIL IS THE MAN

I’d like to send a huge thank you to Phil Judge from Ridley Township who started a clothing drive for the veterans at the Coatesville Veterans Hospital. He saw for himself the dire need for clothing there and decided to do something about it. I sure hope he fills that truck up for the Dec. 23 delivery. JUST A DONATOR

NAME NAMES

“Curious” says that gerrymandering was invented by the predecessors of the Democratic Party. Who exactly were the predecessors of the Democratic Party that “Curious” is talking about? I would like to know. And second of all, “Curious” says that it’s an issue now that it is being perceived to help Republicans. Is not being perceived to help Republicans – it is helping Republicans.

DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH

Wonderful editorial from the Times editorial board, “Another new low for the White House.” But at the end of the editorial, they say they have been “waiting for 11 months for Trump to fill the basic requirement of the office – acting presidential.” They will wait until hell freezes over before Trump acts presidential. GUNS DON’T KILL EVERYBODY

I thoroughly enjoyed reading “Can we find common ground on gun rights?” in which Gottlieb and Workman addressed the importance of all the amendments of the Bill of Rights. Statistics show that 39 percent of U.S. households have guns, with 44 million gun owners in the U.S. Yesterday, more than 43,999,000 U.S. gun owners didn’t kill anyone with a gun. They protected themselves their families, and their communities. ROADKILL

THERE GOES THE INTERNET

Hey GOP supporters! The Federal Communication Commission, which is controlled by the GOP, ended the Obama-era “net neutrality” rules. That means your internet service providers can slow or block websites and apps as they see fit, or charge more for faster speeds. When will you realize the GOP represents only huge corporations and the wealthy? BILL FROM BROOMALL

RUN, SIR CHARLES

I was glad to see “Sir Charles” Barkley singing the praises of the voters of his home state, Alabama, after the Senate race down there. I always wanted him to throw his hat in the ring for political office. THE PRIMOS POLITICIAN

DO-NOTHING GOP

I get tired of the fatmouth Republicans talking about JFK, Roosevelt, Truman, Clinton, Carter and the rest of the great Democrats. I don’t care what that fat mouths say, the worst presidents we ever had were Republicans – except for Abraham Lincoln, who was a good president. But the rest of the Republicans do nothing for me and they never did. All they did was rob from the middle class and the poor. That’s why the rich corporations run this country and they get paid off.

VOTE FOR GRANDPA JOE

I love how all the hip Baby Boomers were always complaining that Reagan was too old to hold office and was an out of touch fuddy-duddy, but we have callers in Sound Off wanting Biden to run for office in 2020 – when he’ll be turning 78 shortly after Election Day. What happened to “Don’t Trust Anyone Over 30?”

THEY WATCH FOX?

A recent poll about the GOP tax plan says it only 26 percent of the people in this country approve of it. But my question is since this tax plan only benefits the top 1 percent, why are 25 percent of the people in this country so stupid that they approve of this plan? SCRATCHING MY HEAD
