YO BRIAN, LISTEN UP

Someone should tell Brian Zidek, one of the new Democrats elected to Delaware County Council, that you do not wear sneakers with a suit – have some class.

LIES AND SADNESS

One of the saddest things about our country is the amount of uninformed and misinformed people who are perfectly happy being uninformed and misinformed. Take the tax bill – Republicans repeat a lie over and over that this tax bill is good for the American people. Fox News and other rightwing outlets repeat these lies as truth, and the misinformed – not being intellectually curious – are perfectly happy to go on their merry way believing these lies put out by Republicans in Congress and pundits without checking the facts that prove that this bill is not good for the American people. It’s only good for the top 1 percent and it’s not going to help the middle class. It’s really, really a sad thing for America that this many uninformed and misinformed people in America.

THOSE WERE THE DAYS

New Year’s Eve will never be the same without Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians. That’s when it was really New Year’s Eve, and the people that you knew performed. They were the best, period.

THE REAL THING

Last Sunday I got tired of watching what was supposed to be football but with flags flying all over, so I switched to something else and found rugby on TV. It looks like they’re playing football but they have shorts on, no pads and no helmets. They were playing with effort and no penalties – it’s like they actually knew the rules of the game. Maybe I’ll stick with this instead of the joke that the NFL has turned into.

LAW AND LAWLESSNESS

An article in the Times noted that a judge in Commonwealth Court said that the Republican gerrymandering is not unconstitutional. Judge Kevin Bronson, a Republican of course, doesn’t see that this is unconstitutional, according to him, when a first year law student can see that it’s a clearly unconstitutional map. But then again, now it seems like even in the Legislature, Republicans are throwing out the rule of law and being partisan hacks.

SPEAK UP

Sixty-four thousand people died last year of drugs. Where the politicians on this, especially the Democrats? You never hear a word from them, do you?

TED MED

I got a laugh from “A Ted Deranged” sneaking “marrying Jane Fonda” into their list of eccentric stuff Ted Turner has done in his business career. But I did like “Turner Time,” though. After spent five minutes realizing there was nothing else on TV, you could flip over to TBS and catch the start of whatever cheesy sitcom reruns they had on back then.

ABOUT JEFFERSON

“A History Lesson” talks about Thomas Jefferson as if Jefferson was some sort of liberal. Well, the fact is Thomas Jefferson was a creep. He was also a greedy creep. So that would put him more in line with the Republican Party that with the Democratic Party.

NOT FONDA JANE

“A Ted Deranged” lists a litany of so-called “business decisions that are questionable” by Ted Turner, as if “A Ted Deranged” knows anything about business, anyway. But then they also say the he married Jane Fonda in the middle of this, which has nothing to do with business. So it’s obvious “A Ted Deranged” is just another right-wing griper still griping about Jane Fonda.

AN AWFUL LEGACY

“A History Lesson” seems to know a fair amount about history, so I can’t understand why they’re a Republican – since the history of the Republican Party ever since Dwight Eisenhower left the office has been pretty dismal for our country. Although Richard Nixon did start the EPA and was the first president to propose changing the health care laws to make them more fair and inclusive, overall his presidency was not that good. And the Republican Party since Reagan has nakedly been the party of corporate America and the rich in this country.
