Andrew H. (Andy) Melinchuk

Andrew H. (Andy) Melinchuk, 92, of Wallingford, PA, passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2018.

Andy was born in Chester, PA and educated at Girard College in Philadelphia, graduating with the Class of 1942. He entered the United States Navy in 1943 and spent most of his service in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

Andy lived for many years in the Milmont Park section of Ridley Township, moved to Glen Mills in 1973, and then to Wallingford. He worked for Witco Chemical in Trainer, PA until his retirement in 1990. Andy was a member of VFW Post 926 in Aston, PA, the Girard College Alumnae, and St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Glen Mills, PA.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family, playing golf, getting together with Girard “brothers”, vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, and spending winters in Florida.

Andy was the son of the late Wasyl and Katharine (Nakoneczna) Melnyczuk, husband of the late Dorothy (Borcky) Melinchuk, father of the late Andrea (Melinchuk) Allen, and brother of the late Marie Doyle, Elizabeth Jackson, Martha McDowell, and Florence Melnyczuk.

Survivors: Andy is survived by 6 children: Patricia Foster, Nancy Melinchuk, Jeanne King, Diane Dwyer (Mark), Andrew Melinchuk, and Catherine Cox (Jim); 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.

Visitation: Monday from 9:15-10:15 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, PA 19342.

Funeral Mass: Monday at 10:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

Burial: St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery, Glen Mills.
