Hunter’s 17 lead Virginia to win over Georgia Tech

ATLANTA » De’Andre Hunter scored 17 points and No. 2 Virginia won its ninth straight game, 6448 over Georgia Tech on Thursday night.

It was another defensive masterpiec­e by the Cavaliers (17-1, 6-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who limited Georgia Tech to 40.5 percent shooting and forced 18 turnovers.

Virginia snapped a four-game winning streak for the Yellow Jackets (10-8, 3-2).

After making the first basket of the game, Georgia Tech quickly got an idea of what kind of night it would be. The Jackets missed their next eight shots and turned it over four times before Josh Okogie finally broke a nearly eightminut­e scoreless drought with a dunk off a backdoor pass.

Virginia led 28-19 at halftime, and Georgia Tech never got any closer the rest of the way. HOFSTRA 90, DELAWARE 63 » Eli Pemberton scored 21 points, Desure Buie added 20 and Hofstra (12-7, 5-2 Colonial Athletic Associatio­n) pulled away late in the first half and cruised over Delaware (11-9, 4-3).

Pemberton was 7 of 12 from the floor and Buie made four 3-pointers and was 8-of-17 shooting from the field. Justin Wright-Foreman had 15 points and Jalen Ray chipped in 10 for Hofstra, which has won five of its last six games.

Ryan Allen scored 16 points, Anthony Mosley added 15 and Archbishop Carroll’s Ryan Daly had 13 for Delaware.

CONNECTICU­T 78, TULSA 60 » Azura Stevens came off the bench to score 22 points and lead topranked UConn (17-0, 6-0 American Athletic Conference) to a closer-than-expected win over Tulsa (8-11, 2-4).

Napheesa Collier had 19 points and Kia Nurse added 17 for the Huskies who have never lost in the conference. UConn has won 76 straight regular-season games and all four conference tournament­s. PENN STATE 70, RUTGERS 67 » Teniya Page made 4 of 5 free throws with a second left and finished with 34 points to lead Penn State (12-8, 3-4 Big Ten) to a win over No. 25 Rutgers (17-4, 5-2).

Amari Carter had 10 points and De’Janae Boykin had 10 rebounds for Penn State.

Khadaizha Sanders led Rutgers with 14 points. Scaife and Stasha Carey had 10.
