Edwards, Lannon lead Cabrini past Marywood

Freshmen Lexi Edwards and Kate Lannon (Sun Valley) combined for 41 points, but it was foul shooting down the stretch that sealed Cabrini’s 74-69 victory over Marywood Sunday afternoon.

Edwards shot 11-for-15 from the field, including a 6-for-7 effort from 3-point range, to score a career-high 31 points to lead the Cavaliers (15-2 overall, 8-0 CSAC). She also had five rebounds and two steals. Lannon added 10 points four rebounds, four blocked shots and three assists in 16 minutes.

Marywood (9-9, 7-2) got within 68-66 with 56 seconds to play, but Cabrini shot 6-for-8 from the foul line in the final 40 seconds to clinch the victory. Edwards and Lannon made two free throws apiece in that stretch. MARQUETTE 67, VILLANOVA 57 » The visiting Golden Eagles closed the first quarter on an 8-2 run and slowly pulled away to hand the Wildcats their third loss in three games.

Erika Davenport collected 22 points and 12 rebounds and Allazia Blockton added 21 points and eight boards to keep Marquette (14-6 overall, 8-1 Big East) in sole possession of first place.

Alex Louin and Mary Gedaka tallied 11 points apiece for Villanova (15-5, 5-4). DREXEL 58, HOFSTRA 47 » The Dragons (14-5, 6-1 CAA) held off a comeback bid in the second half to sweep the season series with the Pride for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

After trailing, 26-12, at halftime, Hofstra (109, 4-4) got within 38-35 early in the fourth quarter, but Drexel countered with an 16-5 run to foil the comeback. Bailey Greenberg led the Dragons with 15 points and eight rebounds. Sara Woods added 13 points and Hannah Nihill (Cardinal O’Har All-Delco) contribute­d eight points, six rebounds and four assists. SAINT LOUIS 96, SAINT JOSEPH’S 73 » The Billikens (10-9, 4-2 Atlantic 10) used a 19-6 run that spanned the end of the second quarter and start of the third period to blow the game open. Jackie Kemph led five Saint Louis players in double figures with 21 points and 13 assists.

Amanda Fioravanti paced the Hawks (99, 4-2) with 18 points and six assists. Adashia Franklyn (nine rebounds) and Alyssa Monaghan (Bonner & Prendergas­t All-Delco) contribute­d 13 points each. Monaghan also had seven assits. Kristalyn Baisden added 10 points for SJU.
