Jean M. Burke (nee Van Horn), 78 of Brookhaven, formerly of Eddystone, Wayne and Ridley Park passed away on Jan. 21, 2018 at home.

Mrs. Burke was born in Chester to David and Mary (nee Larkin) Van Horn. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Moylan. She was married to the late LTC James L. Burke, USA RET who passed away in 2002. She lived in Panama, Germany and numerous cities around the United States with her husband. She was a member of Our Lady of Charity Church and was active with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She loved cooking and was a big fan of the Eagles. Most important to her though were her family and especially her grandchild­ren.

Besides her parents and husband, she also was predecease­d by her brothers David, Donald, Raymond and William.

She is survived by her children Therese (Andrew) Carey of Brookhaven; James (Michele) Burke, Jr. of West Chester; Kevin (Kristin) Burke of Ashland, OH; Sean (Cindy) Burke of Myrtle Beach, SC; Vincent (Andrea) Burke of Exton, 10 grandchild­ren, 2 great grandchild­ren, her brother Robert Van Horn of Surprise, AZ, many in laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Thursday Jan. 25 at 11:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church 1901 Chester Pike Eddystone. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at Carr Funeral Home 935 S. Providence Rd. (Route 320) and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the Church. Interment will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
