Gloria Ann Carpency Truax-Herbst, 74, of Ridley Park died January 20, 2018 at her home.

Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Regina Ocelus Carpency and resided in Ridley Park for 45 years.

Gloria was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School, class of 1961 and attended Delaware County Community College. She was employed by the Dept. of Navy as an administra­tive Assistant at the Philadelph­ia Naval Shipyard before retiring in 1995. Gloria also worked at the Ridley Park Public Library and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ridley Park. She volunteere­d at the Taylor Hospital Gift Shop and Meals on Wheels.

Gloria loved gardening, flowers and animals, especially her cats.

Gloria was predecease­d by her second husband, Walter Truax, who died April 15, 1997; her third husband, Ronald A. Herbst, who died May 30, 2009; and her sister, Nancy Berue.

She was the mother of Erika A. Harris; grandmothe­r of Paige Machelle Camp, Donavan Matthew Pomarico and Benjamin Laurence John Gidley; also, survived by her former husband, Lawrence J. Render.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM Friday, January 26th at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078, where friends may call after 1:00 PM. Burial: Private
