RIDLEY TOWNSHIP » The Philadelphia Eagles weren’t the only ones flying on the road to victory Sunday night. Eagles merchandise began flying off the shelves and racks as quickly as it arrived at local stores following the team’s NFC Championship win against the Minnesota Vikings, 38-7, sending the birds to the 2018 Super Bowl.

At 9:30 p.m. last night Clothes Quarters in Folsom opened its doors and fans poured into the store until they closed up shop at midnight.

“It was one big party in here last night,” Clothes Quarters owner David Wiesen said Monday afternoon. “We had at least 500 customers come in to be the first to sport NFC Championship wear. Everyone was in a jubilant mood, hollering Eagles chants and having a great time.”

Wiesen said Clothes Quarters is “the go-to place in Delaware County” for Eagles merchandise and carries all sizes and types of high-quality, licensed merchandise, including a large selection of children’s gear for school spirit days.

“A win like this is what we live for,” explained Wiesen who has owned the store for more than 30 years. “This is what makes being in this business fun. We are expecting 10,000 more shirts to arrive today, including shirts that say ‘Embrace The Underdog’ with the date.”

Clothes Quarters, located on MacDade Boulevard, is fully stocked with Eagles NFC Championship shirts, hats, hoodies, novelty car flags, shot glasses and much more. Additionally, the store carries all kinds of other Eagles gear from pajamas and gloves to scarves and jackets. No orders will be taken in advance. Customers must come in the store to browse and buy the merchandise.

The store was a revolving door on Monday, with customers pouring in all day long for merchandise, Wiesen said.

Jeanann Dobrikovic of Milmont Park came in to pick up a NFC Championship shirt to mail to her cousin in Australia, who is getting married.

“I thought it would make a nice gift to send him something this special from his hometown,” she said.

Wiesen said the store was early in putting their NFC Champion pre-orders in to the manufacturer, so they will be ahead of some of the others to get much of the coveted merchandise. He hopes to get a couple hundred Eagles Jerseys with the Super Bowl logo in the store by this Wednesday.

“New merchandise should arrive every day between now and Super Bowl Sunday,” Wiesen stated. “We have a lot of unique items coming in daily.”

In addition to being open every day for customers to get their NFC Championship merchandise and other Eagles gear, Wiesen said the store plans to open immediately following a Super Bowl win for the birds, with Super Bowl LII merchandise fully stocked and ready to go on the shelves. Clothes Quarters will remain open all night on Feb. 4 following the game if the Eagles win, or as long as the merchandise is available and the customers keep arriving.

Over at Modell’s in Clifton Heights, business was also quite brisk.

“As soon as the clock hit zero on the field last night, we opened our doors to customers,” stated Modell’s key manager Danny Gonet on Monday. “As soon as it looked like they were going to win, we began setting up the merchandise. Business has boomed ever since. We opened 6 a.m. this morning and it’s been nonstop, all day long.”
