Berkel, Wetzel pace Haverford to win

Sierra Berkel notched a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds as the Haverford College women’s basketball team claimed a 65-47 victory over Johns Hopkins Thursday.

Samantha Wetzel narrowly missed a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds for the Fords (194), who got their 15th victory in the Centennial Conference. SWARTHMORE 61, BRYN MAWR 56 » Audra Woodside poured in 21 points and snared seven rebounds to pace the Garnet, who snapped an eight-game slide. Raina Williams contribute­d 14 points and nine rebounds, while Christina Holmgren added 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Swarthmore (4-18) erased a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter by outscoring Bryn Mawr (1-21), 20-11. MESSIAH 67, WIDENER 51 » Three players scored in double figures for the Pride (1012), who shot a paltry 30.3 percent from the field. Allison Gallagher posted 14 points and nine rebounds, Garnet Valley All-Delco Madison Ireland added 12 points and five assists, and Devan Rimmer chipped in with 10 points.

Men’s Basketball

Anthony Wright-Downing and Deryl Bagwell each recorded a double-double to lead Cabrini to a 92-72 rout of Keystone.

Wright-Downing dropped in 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Bagwell finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and five blocks.

Tyheim Monroe also scored 22 points for the Cavaliers (19-3), who won their fifth straight decision.
