The Elwyn board of directors has appointed Timothy O’Rourke to serve as its new chairman.

“Tim’s distinguished career, along with his commitment to serving individuals with disabilities, speaks volumes of his qualifications to lead Elwyn’s Board,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Charles McLister in a release. “We are delighted to announce his appointment and welcome him as chairman.”

O’Rourke has served on the board since June 2006 and was reappointed in January. He served as a consultant to Elwyn in 2017 and has held various positions on the board during his tenure, including chairman of audit committee and budget and finance committee, as well as secretary of the board.

“I am honored to have the privilege to serve as chairman,” said O’Rourke in a statement. “I follow in the path of many great leaders who have held this role before me, and I will continue to uphold our mission to support individuals with diverse challenges in shaping distinctive, meaningful lives. I look forward to harnessing the strength and experience of our board members. Collectively, we will be impactful and involved to make a difference.”

O’Rourke recently retired as vice president of computer services and chief information officer at Temple University, where he was credited with creating an award-winning computer recycling center and was recognized as a technology management leader by ExecRank.
