Only when she was being whisked away in an ambulance Friday did state Rep. Margo Davidson, D-164 of Upper Darby, say she learned of an outstanding ticket in Virginia that suspended her driver’s license here.

On Friday around 8 p.m. Davidson, 55, was pulling a 2017 Grand Cherokee Jeep out of a driveway on the righthand side of Concord Road, about 500 feet east of Thorton Road.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Juan Llamuca, 63, of Aston, was driving a 2011 Buick Regal on Concord Road when the two collided.

In their investigation of the incident, state police cited the four-term state representative for driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked.

State police declined to say why Davidson had lost her privilege but she herself was willing to share.

“It was paperwork,” she said Tuesday afternoon. “It’s been resolved.”

Davidson said it stemmed from a 2016 ticket she got while driving through a small town in Virginia – a ticket she said she paid.

Davidson said she was driving through Virginia along a road that was 40 mph and then was pulled over in Warsaw, Va.

“The speed limits were different but I didn’t know,” Davidson said, adding that in Warsaw the limit is 25 mph. “It’s like a speed trap. They’re just waiting.”

She said she paid her $227.16 ticket but that information didn’t make it to PennDOT.

“Virginia never notified PennDOT it was paid,” she said.

Hence, she said she had no idea of the situation until she was notified that her license had been suspended while being taken away in the ambulance to Riddle Hospital.

“That was the worst way to find out,” she said, adding she thought, “This is getting worse by the minute.”

Once released from the hospital, she contacted Virginia and asked officials there to provide proof of her payment – but she said they told her they don’t do fax or email. that

Snail mail apparently was OK and Davidson got what she needed. “I presented that to PennDOT and it was resolved,” she said.

In the meantime, she has to process the events of the accident herself.

“I was injured,” Davidson said. “I still have limited mobility on my left side.”

Although out of the hospital, she said she’ll have to attend physical therapy appointments, which are in the process of being set up.

The other driver also received medical attention as he was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center with complaint of neck and left arm injury, according to state police.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene with the Jeep damaged to the left front fender and driver’s door and the Buick damaged in the front bumper and right front fender, police said.

“The side of my car was totally smashed in,” Davidson said, explaining that the paramedics had to remove her from the other side of the car.

“It’s really damaged,” she totaled. It can be repaired.”

Even with all that, she said she’s to do the people’s work.

“I’m OK,” she said. “I’m still serving my constituents and doing what I need to do.” said. “It’s not continuing
