Marie Elizabeth “Betty” Hildenbrand

Marie Elizabeth “Betty” Hildenbrand (nee Schade) passed away in her sleep on Friday February 9, 2018 at Manor Care in Yardley, PA.

Betty was born August 15, 1922 in Carnegie, PA. She was the third child of seven born to Clarence Shade, Sr. and Magdalena (Lena) Musial. Following her education Betty served as a WAVE during WWII. Upon returning home from her Navy service she worked briefly with the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Betty then entered the jewelry business working in the office until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Morrisville, PA, was an avid cruiser and enjoyed taking trips with her siblings and her lifelong companion, Dick Elswick. She also had a great time with family members during sing-a-longs at family get-togethers and she loved playing the slots.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Esther Hiatt (Spencer) and sister in law Peggy (James), also brothers and sisters in law, Robert (Elsie), William (Mary), Clarence, Jr. (Patsy), John and her companion “Uncle” Dick. She is survived by her brother James of Paducah, KY; sister in law Fanny Schade and numerous nieces & nephews.

Family and friends are invited to her visitation on Friday Feb. 16th from 10 – 11 AM at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood, PA. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11 AM.
