Lannon’s boost off the bench helps Cabrini extend streak

Freshman Kate Lannon (Sun Valley) scored 10 points off the bench to help the Cabrini women’s basketball team win its 20th in a row with a 70-41 rout of Immaculata Wednesday.

Nomi Washington led the way with 16 points, six steals and four assists for the Cavaliers (222, 15-0 CSAC), who held a 14-3 advantage after the first quarter. Sabrina Hackendorn posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. HAVERFORD 59, SWARTHMORE 58» The Fords (20-5) avoided a major upset at the hands of the Garnet (5-20). Sierra Berkel, who poured in a game-high 24 points, gave Haverford a sixpoint advantage with two minutes left. Swat cut the deficit to a point when Kendall Tribus drilled a 3-pointer with 16 seconds to play.

A late turnover by Raina Williams sealed the win for the Fords, who overcame a poor shooting performanc­e from beyond the arc (1-for-13).

Samantha Wetzel registered a double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds, while Maddie Gallic chipped in with 11 points for Haverford.

Isabelle Ewart and Abigail Pirron led Swarthmore with 13 points apiece. SAINT JOSEPH’S 64, DAVIDSON 62 » Chelsea Woods’ layup with five seconds left lifted the Hawks (13-12), who led by as many as 12 points in the second half.

Woods paced St. Joe’s with 17 points and snared six rebounds. Amanda Fioravanti finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Adashia Franklyn netted 12 points and pulled down eight boards. GWYNEDD MERCY 83, NEUMANN 63» Kristen Denoncour (Cardinal O’Hara) had 13 points and 10 rebounds, but the Knights (17-7) shot a woeful 33.3 percent (25for-75). Nafisa Saunders scored a team-high 20 points. Yasmine Dorrielan pulled down 10 rebounds, and Octavia Hawkins added nine points and three steals in limited minutes off the bench.

Men’s Basketball

Senior forward Tyheim Monroe flirted with a triple-double as Cabrini earned its seventh straight win with an 87-75 decision over Immaculata.

Monroe totaled 26 points on 13 of 26 shooting from the field, grabbed 22 rebounds and dished seven assists for the Cavaliers (21-3). Anthony Wright-Downing also recorded a double-double with 25 points and 10 boards. Keith Blassingal­e and Trey Smith each scored 11 points. SWARTHMORE 81, HAVERFORD 69» A balanced scoring attack helped the Garnet to their 20th win of the season. Five players reached double figures, including Zack Yonda, who had a team-high 17 points. Nate Shafer and Conor Harkins each netted 15, Zac O’Dell paired 13 points with 11 rebounds, and Jim Lammer added 10 points.

Khalil Garnes paced the Fords with 26 points. SHIPPENSBU­RG 81, CHEYNEY 65 » Jeff Lewis had 17 points and seven rebounds, and Cliff St. Juste posted 16 points and a pair of steals, but the Wolves (221) suffered their 12th consecutiv­e defeat.
