Audition now for Player’s Club

-

SPRINGFIELD » The Players Club Theater of Swarthmore is holding auditions for male singers to appear in their upcoming production of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. First opening in London in 1969, “Superstar” then opened in New York in the early 1970’s and has since been performed throughout the world in many languages. It’s male cast of singers form the foundation of the musical and requires vocalists in all male ranges.

“Because the show’s story is done entirely to music; those auditioning do not necessarily need to have had a great deal of acting experience,” said Director Bohdan Senkow. “But will enjoy the challenge of being a part of a tremendous musical production.”

The story is set in its traditional time and location of Jerusalem as Christ, long recognized as a truly historic figure, returns to the region as a preacher and healer. The production looks at Christ as a man, facing the wrath of the governing aristocracy and religious leaders, who begin fearing that this preacher and healer of the common people, will undermine their stringent iron grip on the nation.

Men interested in auditioning are asked to contact the director Bohdan Senkow at 610-742-4136 or basenkow@yahoo.com.

“Jesus Christ Superstar” runs for ten performances over three weekends from April 20-May 5 at the 300seat Players Club Theater in Swarthmore. Rehearsals are in the evening on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning at 7. The Players Club welcomes people of all multi-cultural diversities.
