UPPER DARBY » The Upper Darby/Sellers Free Public Library, 76 S. State Road, hosts “All That Glitters,” a Victorian Vanities, Inc. presentation, at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8. Those who have some costume jewelry stored away and wonder what it is worth can bring it to this free program and find out from John Thompson, an antiques dealer and licensed appraiser who has been in the business for more than 40 years. The program is a group presentation, not individual appointments. Mr. Thompson discusses all items with the audience.
Participants must arrive by 6:30 p.m. for adequate time to display their items on the presentation table. In order to attend, guests must bring items for appraisal. There is a limit of two items per person. The program will be held in the second floor meeting room; there is no elevator.
The library cannot be responsible for guests’ items. Mr. Thompson does not appraise gold or Nazi memorabilia. Only oral appraisals are given; they may not be used for insurance or estate work requiring wirtten appraisals.

The Lego Club meets at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 12. Lego Stop Motion is the activity. Registration is required; iPads are provided. Preschool Connections features a music theory class from Katie Dunn at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13. Later on Tuesday it’s Kids Klub for grades K-5 at 3:30 with a Perler Beads activity. CHESTER » J. Lewis Crozer Library, 620 Engle St., holds a Dr. Seuss theme for its Read and Create programs at 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in March. Come out to listen to one of Dr. Seuss’ many stories followed by an arts and crafts activity. No registration is required. The programs are for children ages 3-plus.

The library welcomes local author Robyn S. Young at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, for a discussion of her book, “Women in Penn’s Woods: A History of Women in Pennsylvania.” Young is a women’s historian, artist, author and speaker. Known as the “Marker Lady,” she has received approval from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission for 14 roadside historical markers in southeastern Pennsylvania. She is also the founder of the Pennsylvania
Women’s History Project.
The Constitution Center of Philadelphia returns to the library at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, with an interactive program in celebration of Women’s History Month. The program is geared toward teens and adults. The program is free; registration is appreciated.

T-shirt contest, Bingo, at Aston
ASTON » Aston Public Library, 3720 Concord Road, holds a t-shirt design contest for teens at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 19. The program is free, and all materials and t-shirts are supplied. The winning tshirt design wins a prize.
The Friends of the Aston Public Library hold a Bingo night from 6-9 p.m. March 24 at the community center adjoining the library. Doors open at 4:30. All prizes are cash. Admission is $20. The event features special games, food, bingo supplies and raffles. All proceeds benefit the library. No one under 18 years is admitted.

Lecture series at Swarthmore
SWARTHMORE » Swarthmore Public Library shows the Great Courses video lecture series “A Skeptic’s Guide to American History,” taught by Professor Mark Stoler, an expert in US diplomatic and military history, from 10 a.m.-noon Thursdays March 15-May 3.
The series is show in the Council Room of Swarthmore Borough Hall, 124 Park Ave. Three 30-minute lectures are shown each week. There is a break for refreshments, which are provided.

HAVERFORD » Haverford Township Free Library, 1601 Darby Road, Havertown, hosts welcomes SCORE of Chester and Delaware Counties for a series of seminars for small business owners and entrepreneurs this spring. On Wednesday, March 7, from 6:30–8:30 p.m., the library hosts the program Employee Benefits — Attract and Retain Quality Employees. This presentation is designed to help small business owners understand their options and requirements when deciding to offer employee benefits to help attract and retain quality employees. This presentation is directed toward the sole-proprietor of a business with fewer than 50 employees.
Continuing in April, the library will host the program Strategic Research-Based Approaches to LinkedIn on Wednesday, April 18 from 6:30– 8:30 p.m. The delves into a research-based philosophy and strategies to create a LinkedIn profile that is geared towards viewers with average attention spans of about 7 seconds.

Donate for Media-UP sale
MEDIA » Media-Upper Providence Library, Front and Jackson streets, is accepting donated books, record albums, DVD’s, CD’s, puzzles and games for its Spring Book Sale, set for April 21-23. Specially marked drop-off bins are located to the left of the main library entrance on Jackson Street. Please note that the library does not accept encyclopedias, National Geographics or VHS tapes.

Book It! 5k returns in April
Helen Kate Furness Library and Swarthmore Public Library hold their second Book It! 5K Walk/ Run to celebrate their libraries and communities on Saturday, April 7. Registration is now open with an early bird $30 price.
The point to point course starts at Wallingford train station at 9:30 a.m. and ends at Swarthmore Public Library. After the race, there are activities for families and an awards ceremony in Central Park next to the library.
This year, runners are encouraged to join the “crazy hat” theme for the run — e.g., a snowman hat, a flamingo beret or an oversize metallic top hat. There is a Best Crazy Hat prize for the silliest hat.
