HAVERFORD » Swiss Farms in Havertown will host the kick off of a year-long celebration of Swiss Farm’s 50 years in Delaware County. The official birthday party is scheduled for noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 24, at Swiss Farm’s flagship store, 820 N. Eagle Road, Havertown. Although Swiss Farms will continue the celebration, at all its store locations throughout the coming year, the Havertown store was chosen to get the party started because of its recent facelift.

“We are so very proud of the hard work put into this Swiss Farms location and we want to show it off,” said Swiss Farms President and CEO Scott Simon.

The Havertown Swiss Farms has recently undergone a significant renovation, after its recognizable trademark Swiss Farms Silo collapsed during a severe windstorm in 2016. At the time, Simon declared, “We will rebuild,” and it did. The major refurbishment recently culminated with a brand-new design for the iconic Swiss Farms Silo and a new and polished look.

The birthday party on March 24 will feature a ribbon cutting hosted by the Delaware Chamber of Commerce to celebrate 50 years of Swiss Farms. Two days before the birthday celebration, on March 22, the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will present Swiss Farms with the chamber’s prestigious “Small Business of the Year” award at the 2018 Small Business Awards Dinner to be held at Springfield Country Club.

“The chamber is pleased to honor these exceptional small businesses for their continued dedication to strengthening the economic well-being of our community,” said Trish McFarland, chamber president, speaking about Swiss Farms and the other four businesses that will receive various other awards. “We are honored to acknowledge these businesses for the incredible difference they are making in Delaware County.”

Philadelphia’s Country Radio Station, WXTU 92.5, will also be present at this month’s birthday party. The celebration will include freebies and offers, such as hot dogs, Swiss Premium Drinks, samples from Swiss Farm’s new fresh food menu and more.

The first four Swiss Farms opened up in Delaware County in March 1968. The local drive-thru convenience stores have kept it simple by keeping the focus, to this day, on fresh products and fast, friendly interactions, no different than back in 1968.

“It’s all about the people,” Simon stated. “We treat every guest like a member of our own family and we take time and special care when hiring new additions to our Swiss Farms team.”

When asked what the biggest difference was at Swiss between then and now, Simon answered quickly and simply.

“The internet,” he said.

The company now has a strong and significant focus surrounding its online presence. Customers can now order ahead and pay ahead at Swiss Farms and even skip the lines when they pull up for their order. Swiss Farms is also now testing out delivery options as part of UberEats in select zip codes.

“Swiss Farms has always remained committed to providing the same great service that customers have experienced over the past 50 years,” Simon remarked. “The entire Swiss family is so thankful to the customers who we serve that we want to show our appreciation by personally giving back to anyone who visits Swiss Farms at any point during our birthday month of March.“

Simon said that any customer who comes to Swiss Farms during March, and mentions this article, will receive a birthday gift of a complimentary cup of Swiss Farms’ freshly brewed coffee. The offer is valid at any of Swiss Farm’s 12 Delaware County locations, all month long.
