WAWA » Wawa Inc. is looking to hire 5,000 new employees over the next three months as part of a seasonal hiring campaign that has just launched.

All of Wawa’s 790 stores across its six-state operating area will be adding staff — including both customer service and managementlevel positions.

The convenience store chain typically hires for the summer season, but this year’s hiring campaign is also due to company growth, according to a company spokeswoman. Wawa plans to open 25 stores in 2018 in the Mid-Atlantic market and remodel 75 older stores, with each new store creating anywhere from 35 to 40 new positions.

“At Wawa, part of commitment to fulfilling lives means adding jobs for new associates, while also providing advancement opportunities for the more than 30,000 Wawa associates who are part of our team. That’s why we’re thrilled to kick-off this year’s spring hiring campaign and add a number of new members to our growing Wawa family,” Elizabeth Moore, manager of talent acquisition at Wawa said in a press release. “As we look to fill these positions with people who have a strong passion for serving others, we’re looking for individuals who want to join our team for the busy summer season as well those who might be interested in the start of a fulfilling career at Wawa.”

Four of Wawa’s new stores are in Pennsylvania, including an opening this spring at 105 Reeceville Road in Caln Township. Three other Pennsylvania stores are slated to open in Philadelphia by fall. Stores will also be opening in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Florida — where 11 stores will open this year.

Bruce added that Wawa operates about 450 stores in the greater Philadelphia region, and that all stores are hiring.

Some Wawa locations will host “Wawa Career Wednesdays,” which will include open houses at select stores every Wednesday for four weeks starting March 28 through April 18. As part of the “Wawa Career Wednesdays,” potential associates can receive a brief, first interview, learn more about Wawa’s culture, explore career opportunities and discover the role Wawa associates play in their communities.

Stores that are planning to host the open house events will post signs announcing the date and time of the open house. Individuals interested in career opportunities at Wawa are encouraged to apply online prior to attending an open house event. To apply for an open position, visit www.wawa.com.

Qualifications for the open positions vary, depending on the specific position, according to Bruce.

“We are looking for quality candidates — friendly people who enjoy working with the public and who are a great fit for our service-oriented culture,” she added.

Wawa employs 30,000 associates throughout portions of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Florida. For more information visit www.wawa.com.
