Ethel M. Brittingha­m, 93, of Prospect Park, died Jan. 22, 2018 in Taylor Hospice after a long illness.

She was born and raised in Prospect Park, daughter of Mabel Hibbitt and Royal P. MacLellan, and graduated from Prospect Park High School in 1942.

During World War II, she studied nursing at Pennsylvan­ia Hospital in Philadelph­ia and became a registered nurse. She loved being an R.N. and worked actively into her 70s at Taylor Hospital and elsewhere.

She loved even more being a mother and raising her children and taking care of her family.

For a number of years, she and her husband, Grant R. Brittingha­m, owned a shore house in North Wildwood, N.J., and later in Ocean City, Md., where she enjoyed crabbing and other shore her family.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Prospect Park.

Surviving are five children, Carol (Rick) Meyer, Michael (Leona) Brittingha­m, Denise (Harry) Jones, Stacie (Joe) Lacava, and Lisa (David DeKok) Brittingha­m; 13 grandchild­ren; six great grandchild­ren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her husband her in death.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, at St James Episcopal Church, Lincoln Avenue & 11th Avenue, Prospect Park. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., and the service and burial will follow.
