To the Times: Here’s how much we need proenvironment people like Greg Vitali in Congress.
Animals know to not foul their own “nests.” Apparently, we do not. Consider for a moment how much we’ve fouled our own nest just in Pennsylvania: thousands of miles of polluted streams and rivers; scarred landscapes and thousands of polluted drinking wells from fracking operations; our children’s air poisoned by burning fossil fuels, which are also warming the atmosphere; thousands of heavily-polluted former industrial sites worthy of the Superfund program but with no funds to remediate them; epidemic use of highly toxic pesticides on our food; dangerous chemicals like pyrethroids, phtalates, mercury, lead, dioxins, and many other substances present in the blood of the vast majority of the population, and on and on.
We desperately need Greg Vitali in Washington to fight this insanity.
