Payton goes yard, picks up save to lead Episcopal to win
Isaiah Payton’s two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning proved to be the difference in Episcopal Academy’s 6-4 Inter-Ac League victory over Malvern Prep.
Payton finished 2-for-3 with a walk and recorded the save. Will Park was 2-for-4, and Jack O’Reilly provided a pair of RBIs for the Churchmen (3-5, 1-0). Junior Cole Dumont pitched 4.2 innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out five.
Connor Dillon paced the Friars with two hits and three RBIs.

Joe Renzi had a double and three RBIs for the Eagles (3-1, 3-1). Andrew Rodriguez and Ryan Boyers each finished with a double and two ribbies. INTERBORO 17, CHESTER 0 » Collin Shields roped a pair of doubles, and Aaron Stankiewicz supplied a threerun double as the Bucs pounded the Clippers in three innings. Shields was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Gavyn Stankiewicz chipped in with two hits, two ribbies and three runs. Johnny West was the winning pitcher.
In the Ches-Mont League: W.C. EAST 17, SUN VALLEY 2 » The Vanguards struggled to contain East’s high-powered offense which managed seven extra-base hits, including a grand slam. Evan Fooks laced a two-run double, and Dom Valente also had a two-base knock for Sun Valley (1-3, 1-3).
Girls Track
Jillian Barrett showed off her versatility in Interboro’s 75-58 Del Val League win over Chichester. The sophomore won the 300 intermediate hurdles and the 3,200-meter run to lead the Bucs.
Kelly Conner and Tracy Enders also were double-winners for Interboro. Conner took first in the discus and javelin, while Enders won the long and triple jumps.
Zakirah Edwards won the shot put for Chi with a heave of 33 feet, 4 ½ inches.
In the Bicentennial League: DELCO CHRISTIAN 85, JENKINTOWN 33» Shekinah Yanes won the 400, high jump and triple jump to pace the Knights. Maggie Kim was a double winner with victories in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

victory in the 100 and 200 to lead Delco Christian to a 75-59 Bicentennial League victory over Jenkintown.
Boys Tennis
In a three-hour marathon that included two tie-breakers, Penncrest’s Zandeer Prokop outlasted Haverford High’s Jamie Taglang in three sets to give the Lions a 4-3 victory over the Fords in the Central League.
Prokop won 7-6 (7-1), 3-6, 7-6 (71) to clinch the victory. Billy Hugett and Tommy Huggett helped the Lions take three of the four doubles matches.
Alex Archidiacono and Connor Rose won at second and third singles, respectively, for Haverford.
In other Central League action: GARNET VALLEY 7, RIDLEY 0 » Eddie King and Kemper Young did not lose a game at first and second singles, respectively, and Kevin Lu and Kunai Gupta were 6-0, 6-0 winners at second doubles to place the Jaguars. CONESTOGA 5, STRATH HAVEN 2 » Clay Gaieski and Finn L’Armand won at first and second singles, respectively, for the Panthers. Gaieski beat Ahmad Aboseado, 6-3, 6-3, while L’Armand pulled out a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Rodrigo Lorenein.
In the Catholic League: CARDINAL O’HARA 5, ROMAN CATHOLIC 0 » Luke Savage and Charlie Sheehan needed two hours to win at second and third singles, respectively. Savage won 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (74). Sheehan pulled out a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.
In nonleague action: FRIENDS SELECT 3, ACADEMY PARK 2» Mel Schoolfield pulled out a three-set win at first singles, while Brian Erskine and Charles Spor won 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles for Academy Park.

Glen Mills showed its grit in a 3-0 Independent League win over Lower Merion. The Bulls won 2624, 27-25 and 25-19.
