The Eagles cut newly acquired cornerback Daryl Worley, who, according to reports, was found passed out early Sunday morning in an automobile that blocked traffic near Broad and Pattison.

A gun was found at the scene and Philadelphia police tased Worley, per the report. It’s not yet known if Worley was at the Sixers-Heat game Saturday night at Wells Fargo Center. What’s fairly clear is the Eagles didn’t want another Josh Huff situation. Two years ago Huff was arrested and charged with DUI and unlawful possession of a weapon during a traffic stop on the Walt Whitman Bridge. Police found marijuana and hollow point car.

Huff compounded the lapse in judgment by answering questions about the gun, which he said he needed to protect himself and his family.

“What professional athlete don’t have a gun?” Huff said.

Worley was acquired from the Carolina Panthers for wide receiver Torrey Smith. Worley played at bullets in the Penn Charter and West Virginia before being selected by the Panthers in the third round of the 2016 draft.

The Eagles have a surplus of young corners. Jalen Mills, Ronald Darby, Rasul Douglas and Sidney Jones all are expected to man the position this season. Unless, that is, the Birds package one in a draft day trade.

The Eagles also could move a linebacker such as Mychal Kendricks.
