Larry J. Lester

Larry J. Lester, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2018.

Larry was born in Welch, W.V., spent his early years in Ashland, North Carolina and was a long-time resident of Brookhaven, PA.

Larry attended Ridley High School, graduating in 1958. He went onto West Chester University where he earned his Bachelor of Education and Master of Science degrees. He taught science and math for 35 years at Darby Colwyn High School and later Penn Wood High School. He also worked at the Delaware County Courthouse for close to 9 years. Larry was a member of North Chester Baptist Church for nearly 60 years and was known for working endless hours on church projects, especially the sound room. He had a love for the outdoors, automobiles and spending time in fellowship with his friends and family.

Larry will be remembered most for his giving heart and for his willingness to help others, especially his children and friends. He never said no when someone needed his help.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Gail (nee Rose) of 52 years, sons Allen (Bobbi), Brett (Aura), and daughter Cherith; his grandchildren: Arianna, Rhea, Maddy, Patrick and Finley and 5 great-grandchildren. He will be reunited in heaven with his mother, Nell Young (nee Allen).

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 19 from 6:00-8:00 PM at North Chester Baptist Church, 2331 Providence Ave. Chester, PA, and on Friday, April 20 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Funeral service immediately following visitation on Friday. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to North Chester Baptist Church, 2331 Providence Ave. Chester, PA 19013.
