Wilbur R. Runkle

Wilbur R. Runkle, 86 of Collingdale, PA, died Monday April 16,2018 in the Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr, PA.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Clair and the late Theresa (Shoemaker) Runkle.

Wilbur was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Springfield, PA. He was a Retired Composite Applicator, employed by Boeing where he served as Captain on Boeing’s Fire Brigade.

He was a life member with 61 years in Collingdale Fire Co.#2 where he served as past Captain/Chief and a longtime member of the board of directors. Wilbur was Past Fire Chief for the Borough of Collingdale. He served as 4th district Fire Marshall and also as Past President of Collingdale Fireman’s Relief Assoc.

Life member of Delaware County Fireman’s Assoc., PA Fireman’s Assoc. and Keystone State Fireman’s Assoc.

Survived by two daughters: Donna (Christopher) Diviny and Debbie (David) Rose. Four Grandchildren: Andrew & Eric Rose, Patrick & Nicole Diviny. Nieces and Nephews: James (Wendy) Runkle, Pam (James) Perry, Donna (Larry) Sterling and Mike (Ginger) Tinch.

Funeral service will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church, 400 Lynbrooke Road, Springfield.

Visitation Friday 10-11 am at the church.

Interment Edgewood Memorial Park Co., Glen Mills.
