Susanna M. “Susie” (Hubert) Husbands Rev. Karl A. Zeuner, Pastor Emeritus

-

Susanna M. “Susie” (Hubert) Husbands, 79, passed away April 8, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Susie was born January 26, 1939 to William and Mary (Krizan) Hubert of Delaware County, PA, the eldest of five children. She was a bright student and was able to skip a grade in school. After graduating high school, a year ahead of her class, she began working as an executive secretary at Gulf Oil in Philadelphia. She worked at Gulf until she married in 1959 and began a family in 1960. Once all of her four children were in school, she began working for Penn Delco School District. This allowed her to be available for her children when they returned home from school.

She was an active member of her lifelong church, St. Joseph’s in Aston, until she became ill and moved in with her children in 2010. At that time, she became a member of St. Mary’s Church in Schwenksville. She was very involved in the Ladies Guild at St. Joseph’s and loved to volunteer to arrange flowers in the church, and to help in the church office. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, and loved planning activities and trips for the troop.

After retiring, her favorite hobby was to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was an excellent cook, and loved to shop and travel. Over the past few years she was able to travel to Italy and France enjoying their amazing food and wine. During those trips, she especially enjoyed riding the Gondola in Venice, and having lunch in the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Susie is survived by three of her children Kathy (Brian) Pfister, Kenneth (Meghan) Husbands, and Mark Husbands; three grandchildren Justin, Angela (Rickey), and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren Brooks and Bristol. She is also survived by her brothers Donald (Patty) Hubert and James (Kathy) Hubert; sister Joyce Hubert-Theriot; sisters-inlaw, Helena Hubert and Susan Hubert, plus many beloved cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Susan was predeceased by her parents, her son Thomas Husbands, and her brother William Hubert.

A special heartfelt thank you to Jackie Benner for being a wonderful friend to Susie during her time of need.
