William S. Garton

William S. Garton, age 89, of Swarthmore, Ridley Twp., passed away on April 18, 2018.

Beloved husband of Marion E. Garton and the late Marian R. Garton. Dear father of Lynn Paolucci (Jim), Cathy Cioeta (Steve) and Bob Garton (Paula). Brother of Jane Waters. Grandfather of Valerie, Alyssa, Kristen, Kevin, Matt, Bill, Dan and David; Great Grandfather of Cole and James. Stepfather of Rose Fratandouno and the late William Grandizio. Stepfather in Law of Elisa Grandizio; Step Grandfather of L. Christopher, Dane and Evan; Step Great Grandfather of Louis, Angelo and Giovanna.

Mr. Garton was a Korean War Veteran and a Mason. He pitched for the Pittsburg Pirates farm team for two years retiring after an injury. He continued playing baseball with the South Philadelphia Crusaders and the Tinicum A.C.

Mr. Garton spent his working career with Bell Telephone retiring as a manager for Verizon. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. Followed by his Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. Int. Private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org would be appreciated.
