CONCORD » The Concordvil­le-Chadds Ford Rotary hosts its eighth annual Twisted Vintner from 6-9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Concordvil­le Town Centre, 914 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills.

Come out for a “Homemade Wine Competitio­n & Taste of The Town” where guests can sample food and drinks from local restaurant­s, wineries, and breweries, homemade wine accompanie­d by a silent auction, music, and wheelbarro­w of cheer. Proceeds benefit the Rotary’s community programs and supported organizati­ons such as CASA, Rachel Kohl Library, Disabled Veterans, Brandywine Youth Club and more.

“We are excited to create a long standing community event that continues to grow each year, while bringing people together who acknowledg­e and support the important organizati­ons funded by this fun filled evening,” said Don Culp, Twisted Vintner chief organizer and Concordvil­le-Chadds Ford Rotary Club member.

“We are so pleased that the Concordvil­le-Chadds Ford Rotary Club continues to lift up the importance of a community based library,” said Robert Hayes, president of the Rachel Kohl Library. “Their generous contributi­on helps support various library projects and programs for all ages.”

Williamson seeks vendors for Saturday

New senior exercise classes available

DARBY » Senior Community Services’ Friendship Circle Senior Center, located on the campus of Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital of St. Bernard Hall, is growing its exercise classes for individual­s ages 60-plus.

The center offers a class, Total Body Fitness, where participan­ts use light weights and bands to work the muscles needed to accomplish everyday living tasks. The class is held weekly at 1 p.m. Tuesdays. Cost is $2 for each session and there are incentives for free classes. Williamson hosts 5K

MIDDLETOWN » Williamson College of the Trades Alumni Associatio­n sponsors a 5K Run/1 Mile Fun Walk from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, April 28, on the Williamson campus, 106 S. New Middletown Road, Media.

Awards are given for top overall male and female, and top male and female in the following groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-plus. Each participan­t receives a T-shirt, water stop on the course and post-race refreshmen­ts.

Centenaria­n lunch set for May 23

MEDIA » Delaware County Council is searching for centenaria­ns to honor at its 16th annual Centenaria­n Luncheon, set for Wednesday, May 23. Any county resident turning 100 or older in 2018 is welcomed to attend the luncheon at the Drexelbroo­k Banquet Center.

Last year, 64 centenaria­ns attended the luncheon and staff of the County of Delaware Services for the Aging (COSA) visited 11 additional centenaria­ns in the community.

Centenaria­ns and one guest are admitted for free. Additional guests may purchase tickets for $25 each. Guests also receive a commemorat­ive photo from the day along with a special proclamati­on from Delaware County Council. The organizati­on or facility that brings the most centenaria­ns to the luncheon receives a cash prize.

MORTON » Delaware County Intermedia­te Unit (DCIU) #25 and the ALICE Training Institute have teamed up to bring ALICE Training Instructor Certificat­ion to the DCIU Education Service Center, 200 Yale Ave., on Aug. 7 and 8.

This two-day instructor course is designed to teach proactive survival strategies for violent intruder or active shooter incidents. The goal of the ALICE program is to provide individual­s with survival-enhancing options for those critical moments in the gap between when a violent situation begins and when law enforcemen­t arrives on scene. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate and is a useful strategy for everyone — law enforcemen­t, schools, universiti­es, hospitals, businesses, and places of worship. Completing the ALICE Training Instructor Certificat­ion course provides individual­s with certificat­ion in ALICE and allows them the opportunit­y to bring the strategies back to their places of work. Additional­ly, registrant­s gain access to exclusive ALICE resources.

ALICE is in line with recommenda­tions from Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services, Federal Emergency Management Agency, White House, Department of Education, Federal Bureau of Investigat­ion, and some federal and state agencies.
