CONCORD » The Concordville-Chadds Ford Rotary hosts its eighth annual Twisted Vintner from 6-9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Concordville Town Centre, 914 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills.
Come out for a “Homemade Wine Competition & Taste of The Town” where guests can sample food and drinks from local restaurants, wineries, and breweries, homemade wine accompanied by a silent auction, music, and wheelbarrow of cheer. Proceeds benefit the Rotary’s community programs and supported organizations such as CASA, Rachel Kohl Library, Disabled Veterans, Brandywine Youth Club and more.
“We are excited to create a long standing community event that continues to grow each year, while bringing people together who acknowledge and support the important organizations funded by this fun filled evening,” said Don Culp, Twisted Vintner chief organizer and Concordville-Chadds Ford Rotary Club member.
“We are so pleased that the Concordville-Chadds Ford Rotary Club continues to lift up the importance of a community based library,” said Robert Hayes, president of the Rachel Kohl Library. “Their generous contribution helps support various library projects and programs for all ages.”

Williamson seeks vendors for Saturday

New senior exercise classes available
DARBY » Senior Community Services’ Friendship Circle Senior Center, located on the campus of Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital of St. Bernard Hall, is growing its exercise classes for individuals ages 60-plus.
The center offers a class, Total Body Fitness, where participants use light weights and bands to work the muscles needed to accomplish everyday living tasks. The class is held weekly at 1 p.m. Tuesdays. Cost is $2 for each session and there are incentives for free classes. Williamson hosts 5K
MIDDLETOWN » Williamson College of the Trades Alumni Association sponsors a 5K Run/1 Mile Fun Walk from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, April 28, on the Williamson campus, 106 S. New Middletown Road, Media.
Awards are given for top overall male and female, and top male and female in the following groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-plus. Each participant receives a T-shirt, water stop on the course and post-race refreshments.

Centenarian lunch set for May 23
MEDIA » Delaware County Council is searching for centenarians to honor at its 16th annual Centenarian Luncheon, set for Wednesday, May 23. Any county resident turning 100 or older in 2018 is welcomed to attend the luncheon at the Drexelbrook Banquet Center.
Last year, 64 centenarians attended the luncheon and staff of the County of Delaware Services for the Aging (COSA) visited 11 additional centenarians in the community.
Centenarians and one guest are admitted for free. Additional guests may purchase tickets for $25 each. Guests also receive a commemorative photo from the day along with a special proclamation from Delaware County Council. The organization or facility that brings the most centenarians to the luncheon receives a cash prize.

MORTON » Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) #25 and the ALICE Training Institute have teamed up to bring ALICE Training Instructor Certification to the DCIU Education Service Center, 200 Yale Ave., on Aug. 7 and 8.
This two-day instructor course is designed to teach proactive survival strategies for violent intruder or active shooter incidents. The goal of the ALICE program is to provide individuals with survival-enhancing options for those critical moments in the gap between when a violent situation begins and when law enforcement arrives on scene. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate and is a useful strategy for everyone — law enforcement, schools, universities, hospitals, businesses, and places of worship. Completing the ALICE Training Instructor Certification course provides individuals with certification in ALICE and allows them the opportunity to bring the strategies back to their places of work. Additionally, registrants gain access to exclusive ALICE resources.
ALICE is in line with recommendations from Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services, Federal Emergency Management Agency, White House, Department of Education, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and some federal and state agencies.
