Penncrest’s Hartman sets KO mark, beats Upper Darby

Emma Stauffer went 3-for-4 and scored four runs scored and three RBIs to help lead Penncrest to a 9-2 softball victory over Upper Darby Monday. Stauffer was ably assisted by Liz Hoole, who had three hits in three trips to the plate and also knocked in three runs.

Colette Erst added four hits and Brett Gavin collected three hits and two RBIs as the Lions pounded out 15 hits on the afternoon.

All-Delco Maya Hartman picked up the win and cranked up her career strikeout total to 406, a school softball record according to team officials.

Also in the Central League: RIDLEY 8, STRATH HAVEN 1 » The Green Raiders produced 13 hits en route to the victory.

Along the way, Madison Chapman launched a home run and Morgan Chapman had two hits, including a triple. Abby McCoy, Gab DiNardo and Alexa Moore also had two hits each for Ridley.

Brooke Bender tripled and knocked in the Panthers’ only run. GARNET VALLEY 11, SPRINGFIEL­D 2 » Winning pitcher Audrey Shenk helped her own cause with two hits and three RBIs while freshman Annie Becthold had a pair of hits and two RBIs to lead the Jaguars.

Diane Torregross­a (three hits), Lindsey Hunt and Reece Gabriele (two hits each) also had big days at the plate. HAVERFORD 9, MARPLE NEWTOWN 0 » Morgan Marchesani belted a three-run homer and Anna Mefford cranked a two-run blast, as the Fords roughed up the host Tigers. Amber Moscoe was a perfect 4-for-4 and All-Delco Ali Murphy contribute­d three knocks. Annabelle Donato struck out four over three innings of work.

In the Catholic League: ACADEMY OF NOTRE DAME 19, MERION MERCY 2 » Grace Jackson, Carolina Adams and Anita Bilotta all had three hits to lead Notre Dame.

For the Irish, Adams had six runs batted in, Melissa Mycek had four RBIs and Jackson scored five times. Notre Dame had five home runs, including two for Adams and one each for Sophia Haub, Brook McKeown and Mycek.

In the Ches-Mont: WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 12, SUN VALLEY 6 » Maddie Gutowiecz had 3 hits, including a double, and also scored two runs in the loss for the Vanguards.

Girls Lacrosse

Academies

Springtime broke out big for the Cardinal O’Hara girls lacrosse team Monday as the Lions registered a 14-1 win over Hallahan.

O’Hara’s youth stepped to the scoring fore as freshman Rachel Familigatt­i scored four goals and sophomore Jules Ferraiolo had three goals and assisted on four others. Sarah Grossi scored twice while Anna DiRita (one goal) and Jackie McPeak had four assists each.

Marissa Lobb and Riley McGowan also chipped in with a goal each.

In the Del Val League: ACADEMY PARK 11, PENN WOOD 2 » Destiny Booker had three goals and Jordan Lanier and Hannah Reif added a pair of goals apiece as the Knights cruised past the Patriots. For Penn Wood, Sonya Sesay made 10 saves.

In nonleague matches: INTERBORO 13, OXFORD 6 » Keri Barnett broke out for five goals in leading the Bucs to victory. Morgan Reed added four goals and an assist, while Paige Dorwart had two goals and two assists and Brae McCouch and Marissa Mullan (three assists) also scored.

Sydney Campbell had three goals for Oxford, which was contained by Interboro goalie Jaila Zaccarria (five saves). STRATH HAVEN 9, NORTH PENN 3 » Gillian Brennan recorded four goals and an assist, while goalie Katie Capalbo made 16 saves as the Panthers cruised.

Boys Lacrosse

Gaige Lennon scord twice and Brett McLaughlin and Michael Perreca also registered goals but it wasn’t enough as Interboro fell to Holy Ghost Prep, 13-4.

Holy Ghost was led by Dan Kovacevich and senior middie Owen Yake, who had three goals each.

Conner Evans made 10 saves in a losing effort for the Bucs.

Boys Tennis

Cliff Paasewe came back from a set down to win first singles as Chichester edged Academy Park, 3-2, in a Del Val League battle. Paasewe won 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 over Knights ace Mel Schoolfiel­d.

Alec Lindly was a winner in the No. 3 match for Chi. GLEN MILLS 4, PENN WOOD 1» Johnny Luera, Sam Ramirez and Dakota Cable all won in straight sets as the Bulls dominated singles play. STRATH HAVEN 6, MARPLE NEWTOWN 1 » Fin L’Armand cruised 6-0, 6-0 in the second singles match for the Panthers. George Steinkle triumphed at No. 3.

Jonathon Noble won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles to account for the Tigers’ lone victory. RADNOR 7, PENNCREST 0 » Garrett Spillerman, Robert Figerio and Ryan Klein were victorious in singles play for the Raiders (8-2, 7-1). The No. 4 doubles pairing of Matt Khaili and Colin McKee rallied to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. LOWER MERION 7, UPPER DARBY 0 » While the Royals came up empty on the day, No. 1 singles player Brandon Caban played well but dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Sean Atteberry.

Girls Track

Grace Forbes, Maggie Forbes, Dana Hubbell and Ava Crawford all won multiple events as Strath Haven claimed its 86th consecutiv­e Central League meet. The Panthers defeated Ridley 105-45 and Upper Darby 97-52.

Meghan Lynch paced Ridley with first-place finishes in the 300 hurdles and triple jump. Jerenita Sokan of Upper Darby bested the competitio­n in the 100-meter race and long jump. The Royals beat the Green Raiders, 82.5-63. HAVERFORD SWEEPS » Sarah Hurst ran to firstplace finishes in the 1,600 and 3,200, while Brit Rigler topped the field in the triple jump and long jump for the Fords. Cecilia Katcavage took two wins in the shot put and javelin for the Fords, who defeated Radnor 99-50 and Lower Merion 76.572.5.

Jordan Chisholm was a triple winner for Springfiel­d, which beat Harriton, 74-36. Chisholm took first place in the 300 hurdles, 100 hurdles and long jump.

Boys Track

Freshmen Garrett Tait and Justin Senackerib won the 200 and mile events, respective­ly, for Penncrest in its victories against Harriton 128-22 and Springfiel­d 116-34.

Other winners for the Lions included Ethan Rigby (300 hurdles), Ahmed Barries (100), Kason Abahazy (800), Ben Klinger (3,200), Ryan O’Donnell (110 hurdles), Christian Gallagher (pole vault), Christian Williams (triple jump) and Matt Arndt (shot put). Owen Sherbinko took first in the javelin, Owen Galligan bested the field in the discus, Chris Shaner triumphed in the high jump, and Ben Konah won the long jump for the Cougars, who beat Harriton 83-67.
