Cericola delivers sweet swing in clutch

Chichester’s Anthony Cericola delivered big blast in the clutch Friday afternoon. Cericola’s two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a scoreless tie and sent Chichester on its way to a 2-0 nonleague victory over Upper Darby. It was Cericola’s first dinger of the season.

Andrew Rodriguez dominated on the hill for the Eagles. He hurled a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts.

Anthony Caramanico supplied two hits and Caleb Talley singled and scored a run for Chichester.

In the Inter-Ac League: SCHA 8, HAVERFORD SCHOOL 4 » Nick Holtz had a single, a walk and two RBIs and Justin Meyer launched a solo homer for the Fords (9-7, 3-3), who allowed the visiting Blue Devils to score six unanswered runs to secure the win.

In the Bicentenni­al League: JENKINTOWN 5, DELCO CHRISTIAN 4 » The Knights let a four-run lead in the sixth inning fall by the wayside due in large part to shoddy defensive play.

Softball

Bridget Bailey had it all working Friday. The All-Delco pitcher twirled a one-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and clubbed an RBI double to lead Interboro past Upper Darby, 2-0.

Sam Bellano contribute­d a run-scoring single for the Bucs (10-1). Rebecca Sorrentino was a tough-luck losing pitcher and Lexie Witmer accounted for Upper Darby’s lone hit off Bailey.

In another nonleague contest: STRATH HAVEN 15, ACADEMY PARK 0 » Brooke Holsinger roped two triples and scored a pair of runs, while Malia Calciano went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs for the Panthers, who buried the visiting Knights in a four-inning game. Hazel Kane pitched three innings, allowing only one hit while striking out seven.

In the Central League: PENNCREST 4, RIDLEY 1 » All-Delco Maya Hartman recorded 12 strikeouts in a complete game for the Lions (7-4). Melody Gleason did plenty of damage with her threerun triple in the fifth inning, and Kira Sbandi added two hits and a pair of runs scored.

In the Ches-Mont League: UNIONVILLE 4, SUN VALLEY 2 » Alayna Lloyd enjoyed a three-hit game, Carly Williams tripled and Maddie Gutowiecz and Hailey Lipka both had an RBI for the Vanguards.

Boys Lacrosse

Brett McLaughlin and Johnny Scibello netted two goals apiece, but Interboro lost to new Pioneer Athletic Conference rival Perkiomen Valley in overtime, 7-6.

Michael Porreca added a goal and an assist for the Bucs, while AJ Porreca won 50 percent of faceoffs. Gaige Lennons dished two assists and goalie Connor Evans finished with 10 saves.
