Ducks twice frustrate Bergundy in twinbill
Matt Rooney launched a sacrifice fly that went for a win in the first game, and Mike Shtofman’s seventh inning double in the second game completed a comeback kind of day for the J.D. McGillicuddy’s Ducks, as they defeated the Bergundy Lounge by scores of 19-18 and 18-17 Sunday in Millennium Softball League action.
Frank Lanni homered in that first game for the Ducks. Shtofman had three hits in the second game and Joe Kerley pitched just well enough to win twice.

The second game was much more of a nail-biter.
Joe Callahan had three hits and three RBIs and Adam Dienna had two solo home runs. But it came down to Bobby Lucchesi cracking a double for a walkoff win the seventh. Trey Neal had a three-run homer and Pat Dix had three hits to help the early cause.

In this one win for Haggerty’s, Frank Mirigilano “beat the ball like it owed him money!” Apparently that means he hit for the cycle while going 5-for-5 with six RBIs, with a couple of homers along the way.
Matt Bankert went 3-for-3 with three ribs, while Nick Simon had four hits in support of winning pitcher Steve Powers. GRAMLICK CONSTRUCTION 19-18, HAGGERTY’S HUNGRY HIPPOS 16-17 » In the opener, Gramlick scored eight times in the top of the seventh inning to post a comeback win. Timmy Fallon went 3-for-3 with a walk and Andrew Abrams had a home run.
In the afternooncap, it was a tighter one yet. Haggerty’s scored four times in the top of the seventh ... to fall short by one. For Gramlick, Dan Fallon homered a couple of times, Andrew Abrams had three triples and Bob Miller had three hits.
Marcus Hook Sunday League
Dan Boyle went 4-for-4 with three doubles and Norm Donkin (six RBIs) and Brad Waltman (five RBIs) each had three hits that included a pair of homers each to lead Delco Pursuit/Marty McGee’s to a 24-9 win over Lubker Distribution in the opener of a Hook Sunday doubleheader.
In the nightcap, Calvin Butcher had a homer among his three hits and collected five RBIs, and Dan Boyle and Dan Tobin each had three hits as McGee’s Pursuers won 22-2. Mike Kingsbury was the dual benefactor on the mound. CASEY’S 23, MRC 20 » Tom Fuller lifted Casey’s to a split against MRC with a 5-for-5 effort and a bunch of ribbies. John Jordan and Joe Lincke provided four hits each. Eric Davis was the pitcher. No details on Game 1 reported.
