Kehoe’s big day helps Carroll cycle past McDevitt

Tyler Kehoe had Friday.

The Archbishop Carroll junior hit for the cycle in the Patriots’ 19-0 drubbing of Catholic League foe Bishop McDevitt.

Kehoe, a South Carolina commit, finished 4-for-4 with seven RBIs. Jake Kelchner blasted a three-run, inside-the-park homer and finished with four RBIs. Kyle Wagner also went yard and scored a pair of runs for the Patriots (13-3, 9-2), who can clinch sole possession of second place in the Catholic League win a win over Archbishop Ryan Monday. Carroll can capture a share of the regular season title with a win Monday and a La Salle loss to Archbishop Wood.

Brett Holmes allowed only three hits and struck out six in a five-inning complete game. Avery Shepherd and Cole Chesnet each had two doubles.

In nonleague games: BONNER & PRENDERGAS­T 7, STRATH HAVEN 2 » John DeMucci belted a three-run jack in the fourth inning to give the Friars (10-7) their first lead. Matt Shepherd’s three-run double in the fifth put the game out of reach.

Matt Maselli hurled two innings of solid relief to earn the win.

In the Inter-Ac League: HAVERFORD SCHOOL 5, GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 4 » Nick Holtz delivered the winning hit in the bottom of the seventh for the Fords (13-11, 4-6), who overcame a 4-1 deficit. Sean Clark’s two-run bomb in the sixth tied the score. Holtz was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Justin Meyer threw a perfect top half of the seventh inning, striking out two, to get the win. EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 5, SCHA 2 » Isaiah Payton belted a home run, and Mitch Pagano was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Churchmen. Jack O’Reilly gave up one hit and struck out two in three innings of work for the win.

had two doubles

There was hardly any doubt that Upper Darby would win the Central League title Friday.

Sara Sullivan led off the game with a home run, and Lexie Witmer banged out two doubles as the Royals clinched their second championsh­ip in three years with an 11-1 rout of Harriton in six innings.

Rebecca Sorrentino threw a complete game with six punchouts and helped her cause with a threerun jack. Sullivan added three singles to go with her home run.

In the Inter-Ac League: NOTRE DAME 16, AGNES IRWIN 1 » Grace Jackson collected a double, a triple, four RBIs and a pair of runs scored to pace the Irish. Jackson dominated for two innings from the circle, fanning four, to earn the win.

Brooke McKeown went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Marissa Mycek finished 3-for-3 with two runs, while Sophia Marlino and Sophia Haub both chipped in with two base knocks.

Lily Zelov hit a run-scoring for Agnes Irwin.

Boys Tennis

Haverford High concluded its best season in nearly a decade with a 5-2 nonleague victory over Devon Prep.

The Fords (9-7), who finished on a four-match winning streak, received another solid performanc­e from Connor Rose at third singles. Rose closed the season with a 7-5, 6-4 win.

All of the Fords’ doubles pairings ended the campaign as winners: Sammy Ortiz and Scott Kaplan, Michael Hughes and Samson Chen, Varun Rajan and Andrew Borbi, and Zachary Signorello and Abe Park.

Girls Lacrosse

Archbishop Carroll flipped the switch in the second half, scoring six of the game’s final nine goals, on the way to an 8-5 decision over Harriton.

Julia Dellarata turned aside seven shots in goal for the Patriots, who trailed by one at halftime. Katie Detwiler led the charge with four goals and two draw controls, Amber Germer registered two goals and four caused turnovers, and Fabiana Narda chipped in with two goals and an assist.

In other nonleague action: SPRINGFIEL­D 16, PARKLAND 7 » Dana Carlson and Olivia Little scored four goals each, Little added two helpers, and Belle Mastropiet­ro dominated the center circle with seven draw controls to go with two goals and four assists as the Cougars (15-3) ended the regular season on a winning note.

Olivia Pace and Julie Schickling added two goals each, the latter with two helpers, and Aidan Gallagher made nine saves. TJ Malone’s fourth goal of the game came in overtime to lead Haverford School to a 9-8 Inter-Ac League win over Episcopal Academy Friday night.

Luke O’Grady added two goals for the Fords, who clinched the regular season title and top seed in the league playoffs that start next week.

Nick Bates tallied a hat trick, and Chris McCoun added two first-half goals for the Churchmen.
