New hotel ready to open in Marple
MARPLE » Select guests checked in Monday to check out the first hotel to open in Marple.
A special preview party for the new Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott before Wednesday’s official opening showcased the hip new spot for many a guests who will be visiting the Delaware Valley. Project developers, township officials, state lawmakers and others dignitaries cut the ribbon on the hotel in a special ceremony.
Fairfield Inn is a 110room facility that also has an 810-square-foot meeting room, a fitness center and indoor pool with other guest amenities like free Wi-Fi and laundry service. The new hotel will provide 30 full- and part-time positions.
Patrick Burns, president and CEO of the business that will manage the hotel, Metro Philly Management Solutions, said it was awesome to get the hotel open.
“It’s been a long time coming,” said Burns. “I love the hotel business, it’s near and dear to me.”
Burns also manages the Courtyard by Marriott at the Springfield Country Club. Since opening that location in September 2013 with the number of events hosted at the country club, he said there was a need for more hotel rooms in the area.
“There just wasn’t enough hotel rooms, so we’re excited about it,” said Burns.
Burns has plans to extend the hotel business in the county, but has not divulged details on where.
Building the hotel was a three-year and $15 million investment into a project located on a tract of land right off Lawrence Road near the Blue Route. The hotel is just one part of the development project that will include a grocery store, gym and townhouses as construction continues.
“I think Pat has created a magnificent building and I hope it will bring a lot of joy to those that stay here as they travel through the country and the town,” said Claude de Botton, who splits the land through his business, National Realty Corp., with his partner Ron Reuben. De Botton said it was his son, Paul, who, “opened the eyes of an old man and said, ‘That’s the right thing to do.’”
“A vision came finally creation,” he said.
Marple Board of Commissioners President Joe Rufo welcomed the hotel, and future development on the 30-acre land, for the township
“This is exactly the type of development the township needs and we appreciate the revenue and the place looks absolutely tremendous,” he said.
