Chester bridge work
CHESTER » PennDOT announces lane closures are scheduled on northbound and southbound Interstate 95 between the Melrose Avenue and Edgmont Avenue overpasses on Monday, May 21, through Friday, May 25, from 10 p.m.-5 a.m. the following morning for construction activities related to a project to rehabilitate eight bridges over I-95 and CSX Railroad in the city.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling on I-95 in the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

452 work continues
Route 452 (Market Street) will be reduced to a single lane between Ormand Street and 11th Street from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, May 21-Friday, May 25, for utility improvements as part of a project replace the structure carrying Route 452 (Market Street) over Amtrak and SEPTA railroad tracks in Marcus Hook Borough and Lower Chichester Township.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All traffic during construction will be controlled by flagging operations.
Route 452 (Market Street) will continue to remain open to traffic during construction except for two 28-day closures planned during later stages of construction. The project is scheduled to finish in fall 2019.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT’s contractor is replacing the 17-span reinforced concrete T-beam bridge with a new four-span, continuous prestressed box beam bridge. The new bridge will be 343 feet long, 40 feet wide and will be built on a new alignment and widened to meet current design standards. Crews will also resurface and regrade new approaches to the bridge.
I-95 work Monday
A right lane closure is scheduled on northbound Interstate 95 between the Route 452 (Market Street) and Commodore Barry Bridge interchanges in Upper Chichester and Chester townships from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, May 21, for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) installation. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. The schedule is weather dependent.
Closures for Aqua
Aqua Pennsylvania is planning weekday travel restrictions on three state highways in Delaware County for water main improvements. The work schedule is:
• Monday, May 21, through Friday, May 25, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled on Route 452 (Pennell Road) at the intersection with Lenni Road in Middletown Township
• Monday, May 21, through early June, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled on Rose Valley Road at the intersections with West Country Club Road, East Country Club Road and Springhaven Road in Nether Providence Township
• Wednesday, June 6, through mid-July, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Springfield Road is scheduled to close weekdays between Old Marple Road and U.S. 1 (State Road) in Springfield Township. During the weekday closure, motorists will be directed to use Old Marple Road, Route 320 (Sproul Road) and U.S. 1 (State Road)
