Donald A. Butler

Donald A. Butler, 76, of Cape May County, NJ, died Monday May 14, 2018 at home with his family by his side.

Don was born in Ridley Park and raised in Norwood, PA. He was a graduate of Interboro High School, attended PMC Widener University and served in the U.S. Army. After working for Graybar and Penn Mutual, Don decided to become an entrepreneur and purchased his own Pepperidge Farm Bread Route. That led him to find the Country Deli in Gradyville, PA, which he owned along with his wife Connie. They transformed a small walk-in shop to a successful and unique dining experience/antique shopping center. The family legacy will continue through his daughter Dawn and sonin-law Bryan. Don was a distinguished member of the Masons through which he earned his 32nd Degree. He was also a proud member of the American Legion as well as the Elks Organization. As a Gradyville business owner, Don was also active in the local community by serving on the Planning Commission. Don and Connie enjoyed many years at their second home in the Florida Keys where Don was an avid boater and award-winning fisherman. They were members of the Marathon Yacht Club where Don served on the board. Don and Connie also spent time together on many adventures in their RV antiquing throughout the states. Don is lovingly survived by his wife Connie of 32 years, his children Dawn, Dianne, Debby, Christine and Steven, his brother Bob and sister Linda, his many grandchildren who fondly referred to him as “Pop-Pop” and his beloved cat Kirby. He is predeceased by his parents Jean and Donald Butler. Friends, family and others whose lives have been touched by Don are invited to the Christ Church at 104 Nevin St., Ridley Park, PA on Thursday, May 24, 2018. The visitation will take place from 9:30 am - 11:00 am, with a funeral service to follow from 11:00 am 12 noon. Donations to the Holy Redeemer Hospice in Cape May, NJ would be greatly appreciated by the Butler family.
