In city of Chester, ‘We the People’ need gun control

- Raubie M. Green, Chester

To the Times: Here in the city of Chester our mayor has been doing a good job to put our city back on top. We have a big crime rate. Just when our crime rate went down it came back up. Philadelphia, New Jersey and Delaware are doing their best to help the crime rate go down. I understand that this is an ongoing fight. Gun control is very hard and we don’t know what a person will do if they have a gun. How can anyone know what a person will do?

We need to have protection and many of us do have guns for protection. Our homes, our businesses and our families. We need to understand that our young adults need some type of help. They went to the White House and asked for help.

Here in our city of Chester we are still building and we are fighting to put our city back. Our young adults will be getting out of school for the summer and it doesn’t look like help is on the way to help them.

Now we are talking about race, this is not the time to think that every time a black person does something right or wrong, that it’s a racial problems against blacks. We need more programs to help out young adults.

Our president needs to help the people. All we hear about is what’s going on in the White House. We need to know what the president and his staff are going to do for the people. It seems like we are going backwards. Our law officers are doing the best job trying to help to bring our crime rate down and they put their lives on the line trying to protect us.

Now is the time we need to come together as people to help keep our communities where we live safe. Our system is fighting the people that put in office. Keep fighting gun control. Our young people are asking for this. Don’t forget the time when you needed the young people’s votes. It’s all about “We the People,” it’s not about what office you hold, it’s about what they do with the job. The job that they do for us when we put them in office.

Our young adults are still killing each other and there are many innocent bystanders. Don’t wait until another young adult goes off shooting people in schools and restaurants and themselves. Keep gun control number one for the protection for “We the People.” Leave your comments online Use hashtag at
