Robert LaTour

Robert LaTour passed away June 18, 2018 in the comfort of his home.

He is survived by beloved son Matthew LaTour and soon-to-be daughter-in-law Jessica, life-long companion Peggie Duffy, sisters Mary Hobson and Joan Chittenden, brother Edward LaTour and wife Elaine, life-long friend Donald Bird, and countless nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.

He was predeceased by his daughter Cheryl, mother Edna Bertha Steigler, father Vincent LaTour, sister Dorothy, “his Pete” - Peter Meehan, and brother-in-law Kenneth Hobson.

“Bob” was born in Hoboken, New Jersey and spent his early life as a loving brother who took care of his younger siblings. He was an extremely bright and well read man and skilled furniture refinisher, helping restore many older homes in Hoboken to their former glory. Bob was a man of many great talents and always understated and full of humility.

Bob settled down in the Philadelphia area and was a resident of Upper Darby for the majority of the past 30 years. He was employed for more than 25 years at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, where he took great pride in his work and made countless friendships with coworkers over the course of his career. He went to great efforts to ensure he went to work everyday with a freshly pressed pair of pants and work shirt, and you could count on him having a pocket full of life savers to hand out to anyone he crossed paths with.

Bob was an avid reader and die-hard New York Giants, Dodgers, and Knicks fan (Although he secretly rooted for all of the Philadelphia teams as long as they weren’t playing his guys).

His greatest joy and accomplishment in life was his family. Along with Peggie Duffy, Donald Bird, and Pete Meehan, he raised Matthew, who was his pride and joy. There was not a childhood event that was not attended with a smiling face and a gatorade waiting on the sideline. He will be remembered by his son as a proud father who provided everything he was able to, and then some.

Bob was much loved by his family, and will continue to be. When one is loved, one is never forgotten.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Visitation on Saturday, June 23, 2018, from 10:00-11:00am at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church 500 Woodlawn Ave. Collingdale Pa. 19023 followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa.
