Media Rotary installs new officers for 2018-19 year
The Rotary Club of Media recently installed Rob Hancock as its president for the 2018-19 Rotary year along with members of the board of directors. The gala dinner, at the Springhaven Club, was also an opportunity to thank outgoing President Chris Swartz and to receive two new members: Sheri M. Kirchoff, with Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union; and Ryan Martin, with the Boy Scouts of America.
Dennis Slostad, chairman of the Rotary Foundation of Media announced that the club had provided $22,233.90 in grants to 16 local and international agencies, and thanked club members for their generous support of fund-raising efforts.
Club members also personally donated $12,579 to the Rotary Foundation and an additional $3,410 designated for Rotary International’s Polio Plus Fund, dedicated to eradicating polio from the earth. Rotarians who during their lifetime donate at least $1,000 become Paul Harris Fellows, named in honor of the organization’s founder. For each multiple of $1,000 Rotarians receive additional recognition.
Carol Wills and Anne Schenberger received their Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) pins; with Courtney Ballauer, Susan Garrison and Michael Campbell receiving PHF +1; Virginia Falkenbach, James Resinger, and Frances Smith recognized for PHF +2; Dan Lievens and Ted Pleibel for PHF+ 3; and Peter Mardinly for PHF +6. Major donors are those who cumulatively donate $10,000. Bill Strine and Govinda Malya were recognized as major donors +2.
Rotary District 7450 Governor Dawn DeFuria installed the officers and directors for 2018-19. They are President, Rob Hancock; President-elect, Susan Garrison; VicePresident, Jim Resinger; Secretary, Carol Wills; Treasurer, Ted Pleibel; Sergeant-at-Arms, Tony Cavaliere; Past President Chris Swartz; Directors, Wayne Matthias-Long, Kerry Dyer, Michelle Martella and Joan Patko.
